After I got out of church I headed out to Flint Creek to pre-fish for my Fraternity's bass tournament next weekend.
First off, the water is as low as I have seen it all year. Wheeler is absolutely choking later than i've ever seen it. I guess big money, local politics, and the BASS elite series is keeping all water in Guntersville... but thats not the point of this post, so i'll hush.
Water Temp was 58 in Flint, and we didn't do to well... 3 short fish and a white bass. 1 bass on a red spot and the other two on spinnerbait.
There was zero current, which really kills the bite in Flint, but we did catch our fish in "staging areas" for the spawn. One problem... the spawning areas are dry... really frusterating for the fish I'm sure.
I have marked a map with areas I got fish... you can notice the proximity to spawning areas. All the fish where relating to wood, whether it be stumps or laydowns.
I fished several other of my "sure thing" areas on the main lake, but the lack of current really killed it too... maybe the cold front to. My "sure thing" areas in Flint where high and dry emoMad Well the areas I caught fish are marked in red, and some of my "sure thing" places i fished are marked in yellow, in case ya'll are ever down here. The house I grew up in is marked in blue emoCool emoCool
Hittin' it again Thursday...maybe we'll get some water emoAngry
