My fraternity had our first bass tournament out of Flint Creek on Wheeler Lake Saturday. It was a really tough day of fishing. At 6 a.m. this morning it was a brisk 34 degrees and a stiff 10 mph wind, but none the less we were raring to go. We had 6 boats and one bank fishing team. Fishing was tough with the cold temperature, high winds, and the 182 boats that were fishing the BFL Tournament in Decatur. We did manage to catch a few nice fish and have a competitive weigh-in.
Big bass of the day went a buddy of mine with a 3 lb 13 oz Largemouth. He caught it on a Brush Hog on the Hwy 31 Causeway.
The real big fish of the day went to a team who after 15 minutes finally chased down and snagged a 20 lb Grass Carp.
Totals: 7 Largemouth Bass Caught - all 7 released alive
Winning bag was only 4 lbs 4 oz... but we had a great time.
