I went squirell hunting yesterday......and didn't see anything.....not even a nest. My cousin went saturday and didn't see anything either. Just wandering if anyone else killed any?

I took my great-nephew out Saturday morning. Saw two squirrels at the bottom of the mountain and got both of them, both boars. Didn't see a thing up high. There's plenty of hickory nuts, and they're cutting down low. Possible lack of food during the winter could have killed some off. First of season sure ain't like it was last year. Two squirrels just barely filled my hollow tooth, but they were good eating, and the boy had a great time. He found a shed antler, so that made his trip.

Besides the lack of mast in our area last year, figuring that cut numbers. The mast this year is late, I think due to lack of rain again. They are just starting to eat hickory here. BTW, saw 10 in 2 trips, got 4.

Freaking lil tree rats are sure thick here in Soddy , but then we've had lots of rain here at my house except for the last couple weeks, until yesterday

Find water, and find the squirrels. They will move around in the summer and winter. Winter they move to find food, and summer they move to find water.

Here in (north) Cleveland my mother's roof was getting lumpy. I got up there and found that the rotten little devils were burying acorns under the shingles!!!!! There'll be fried squirrel in the neighborhood soon!
