So my impeller is wrecked. Missing two paddles. Just replaced last year. I guess 90 dasy on the water in a year can do this. SO I need to get another one and would to buy one in town if I can. Where do they sell Mercury parts?

90 days on the water is never enough. The more you use it the better it lasts......

Seriously, you should not have had missing ears. Do youcrank your motor after you pullthe boatout of the water to clear excess water? Did you leaveyour boatoutside over the winter and then take it to the lake on pretty days?

Ease up a little, ya can't catch them all. emoLaugh Never, ever, start the motor out of water, I'm not saying you did this, but don't. You will be calling all over town looking for a water pump again. emoLaugh

I just shake my head when I am at the ramp and hear someone start it and then rev it up!!!!!! I was at the ramp today and heard several start up out of the water!!!

Do you crank your motor after you pull the boat out of the water to clear excess water? Did you leave your boat outside over the winter and then take it to the lake on pretty days?

Don't ever crank motor out of the water, but I do store it out side and take it to the lake on pretty and grey cold days. Did not think about the impeller freezing up and then when I get to the lake and crank it it could be damaging it. MAybe in the winter when it is freezing outside and I head to the lake I should let it sit in the water for a few minutes in order to thaw.

How often should you change the impeller? Is there a rule of thumb to go buy as far as time, or do you just watch for your pressure to drop off?

On just about every engine, mercury recomends that they be changed yearly. I have only seen 1 that they recomended 2 years and it is the exact same part that a 3.0L V-6 uses and that they recommend yearly!!! I don't know.

Here is 2 pages out of a factory service manual for 105 sport jet thru 225 pro max engines. This is the maintenance service sheet out of the manual. The water pump is listed on the 2nd page.

Hope this helps!
