I agree with Flip. If you want to have a blast and see that young fishermen catch some big wild fighting fish go to the east side of the dam and fish in the tailwaters for Skipjack Herring. For bait use light colored hair jigs. Cast as far as you can and crank it back in moderately fast with a little twitching action. You guys will catch fish, and plenty of them. I do not know how old your stepson is but at any age, he will like the excitement of all the action you are in for.
When you exit at the first exit after crossing the dam you will see a small lake to the right of the exit loop. That is Lake Junior. It has Bass, Crappie, Bluegill, Catfish and is stocked with Rainbow Trout. You can only fish it on Fri, Sat and Sunday daylight hours only through the last day of April. License regs apply for Trout fishing
