Hello all,,,Moving here from South Florida. Basic info on myself----
When it rains the floodgates open and the snook get hungry. 28 lbs my best and all caught from shore on Rapalas.
During the Summer months we walk the shoreline in a community called Weston at night. The street lights illuminate the water just right and the largemouth attack black buzzbaits pulled through the vegetation extremely aggressive and almost always within a poles lenght. You know the kind of hit I'm talking about. Just about to lift the lure out of the water and BOOM. Makes me jump just typing it. 12lb14oz was the best.
I"ve fished tournaments for largemouth in the Everglades out of Holiday Park. 50 boat turnouts aren't uncommon with our main stomping grounds being a place called "cut 8" which is basically a marsh with water 24" deep. The boat we fish on is a 21ft. Skeeter that the owner rigged with 8 deep cycle batteries. When I tell you that he pulls and clears the trolling motor 100 times during the day, that might be conservative. This is a true paradise to fish in and there is nothing like seeing an 8 pounder chasing down a flappin shad or a hard nosed frog in such shallow water sometimes from 20 yards away from where the lure hit the water. 28lb 14oz best 5 fish limit.
I own a 245 Sea Fox Bayfisher that with a 250 Suzuki four stroke. Me and the wife like to target snapper and grouper of Ft. Lauderdale beach. By thinking outside the box, we catch limits of Mutton snapper in just 12 feet of water on the first limestone ledge while everybody runs out to the fished out artificial reefs. Ballyhoo plugs on circle hooks.
My question is , Whats a boy to do in the Chatt area. Cool clear water for trout on fly sounds good. And whats the best top water lake during the summer? Flippin in winter ?
Selling my bay boat and rearming with a bass boat. I'll be the guy you hear yelling"Get the net!!!"

Welcome aboard. I can't help you with the trout fishing. Topwater on any area lake this time of year (through November),can be fantastic. The water's generally too cold in the winter for a good flipping bite (unlike Florida), although the past winter was awfully warm. Normal water temps will dip into the upper 30s in January and February. This year, I never saw the water temp go below 47 degrees. Suspending jerkbaits, jigs, dropshots, and crankbaits (all worked slow) will put fish in the boat when cold wind blows.

The best place to start is on here. emoBigsmile You can go back as far as you want to with fishing reports and tournaments. They will give you a lot of ideas on what, where and how. If you want to spend a little money you can hire yourself a guide to show you the way first hand. Crappie, cats and assorted fish you can use Richard Simms. For bass fishing basics with this area you can use Rogne Brown, Steve Kite or Chris Coleman. They are all licensed and can show you some really cool ways right here in the Chattanooga area. Good luck on your quest. emoToast Jmax

Thanks for the replies. As a Florida native , I can pretty much look at an area and identify the best area to fish down here. Up in your area, I'm sure the techniques used here will not produce there. I guess that will be the challenge of fishing up there and catching down here.
