Put in around 9AM after driving all over to find a ramp. Had to use a private ramp. Fished below the dam and wow how the water has dropped out. Last week they were running 100k + CFS now back down to around normal. I bet the water is down 20 ft from last week which is normal level now. I have only been fishing below the dam for SMB for a year or so because I’ve become addicted after landing some massive brownies last year so I’m not sure how to pattern them during all seasons...but if I had to guess, they have been used to raging flows for about 4 months now and now they shut off. They are still there I see them on my sonar. Threw everything. Ned rig, spoons, swim baits. I’ve fished this whole tri state area my whole life for all species, bass, fly fishing for trout/bream, etc, but catching those big brown ones has got me obsessed. The challenge is awesome. It’s almost like hunting trying to figure out what depth, water temp, flow, what they are biting, etc. We did land a massive LMB probably 10+ and a few other small ones. All dark color Ned Rigs. They also all had big fat spawning bellies. Not sure if that had something to do with it. Any suggestions would be greatly accepted.
