Went solo downtown from around 1-4pm when the water was on. Caught 2 SM both 4lbs+ And 1 5+ SM and a lot of smaller spots. Between the 20 mph wind and the party boats it was nearly dangerous. The recklessness of the boats that’s are just cruising up and down the river is getting out of hand. I’m all for having a good time and enjoying our public natural resources but these boats do not understand how to keep a safe distance from others. I’m constantly getting nearly swamped from boats running wide open 20 ft away and they have no clue. They just wave. It’s gotten really bad in the last 2 years. One day someone is going to get run over or a kayak is going to get hit. I’m probably just dumb for being out there at that time but that’s when they run water. Still caught a lot of fish so it was fun.

Good report and a good reminder. I routinely put in at suck creek boat ramp and it is apparently becoming a kayak, SUP favorite put in spot . Saw a guy last week coming down river in the middle of the channel on a SUP wearing a mask and no PFD. Go figure.

Great report and yes I too wonder about all the people I see on boards or in kayaks who have no PFD on and are right in the middle of the main navigation channel emoScratch . They must be really good swimmers who are immune to muscle cramps. Seems like a recipe for disaster to me. The other week I was cruising behind a pontoon boat pulling a young girl on a tube in the middle of the main lake channel. I was paying attention and figured she would get thrown off because it was so rough. After a short distance she did get bounced off the tube right in the middle of the channel with boats whizzing all over. I slowed and kind of stopped so hopefully I would be blocking traffic from her. Now get this, instead of raising her arms and waving so she would maybe be visible in the water she just laid flat on her back and relaxed while the pontoon boat turned and made its way to pick her up. Laying flat made her next to impossible to see, especially with all the waves. It would have been very easy for someone to not see her until it was too late and there would be another tragedy. I remember years ago a high school girl fell off a tube or skis, not sure which but she got run over by a boat and lost her leg, nearly bleeding to death. Please spread the word to those you know who pull anyone with their boat. First there are plenty of not main lake channel places to pull them and most important when they fall off they need to make themselves as visible as possible and for sure not just relax and lay flat on their back

it is insane how careless people have become. It is almost like they expect everybody else to watch out for them. good report and good catches. Keep your eyes peeled, it is also amazing how many boats are around at night without lights.
