Looking for some swimbait hooks with the screw-lock in 5/0 or larger with the belly weight...who has them?

I've had trouble finding them too. I did find 1 box at basspro.I'm sure they had more just did'nt have them out. I found some 3/0 hooks locally and took the screws and weights off and put on some 5/0 wide gap hooks. Some of the pro's said their useing 6/0 hooks because of the thickness of the baits. I figure those are really hard for the public to find.

The only reason I need the screw-lock style is to prevent the swimbait from getting shredded when sticking the fish. BBK showed me a trick over at Fish-n-Fun and I may have to go with that if nobody carries them locally. It's essentially a Horny Toad hook with a weight crimped to the hook shank.

...I did some work at Sequoyah Vocational today. Thanks, BBass.

i know its a bit of a drive for you but smokey mountain tackle has all kinds of 'em . they also have the fish head spin style too ( has a little willow leaf blade on it)

I am a new member- just found the site. I primarily fish Nickajack. Wife's family has a house on Bennet, so we fish there a lot!

I believe Big Daddy's Outdoors in Bridgeport, AL has a few. They are all fishing swim baits rigged with this type of hook, except w/ a small spinner blade on the hook.

$6 for 3!emoBadLanguage

Elkens Enterprise in Idaho has what you are looking for. 5/0-7/0 with screwlocks.

i went to smokey mtn. tackle last week and all 6/0 were sold out so i bought 5/0 with the screw lock and a pack of crimp on weights, these will do for now but i'm going to get the molded ones when i find them that's like another hook problem for me is why manuf. don't make a big wide gap hook that has a short shank for 3.5" tubes, if you want a large gap then the hook is too long to texas rig and hide the point back in the tube?

Bill Davis Makes one called a Davis Swim X Hook. I have 4/0 - 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 in stock. Right now I am out of the 5/0 and 6/0 but i do have a 8/0 with weights but not screw-in in stock. I also have the new shadalicious in stock if anyone has not seen them. Probably the best looking swimbait ive seen out yet. Call me if any interests 706-278-5598

Thanks J.P.

Haven't seen any screw locks, but did finally find some Keel weighted hooks at Walmart in Kimball, and last week in Dunlap. The keel weighted hooks have been hard to find. R&R's doesn't carry them, but I mentioned to Daryl last night to get some and some more swimbaits. He had some really nice ones that just came in, but no hooks. And I'd love it if you'd take a picture of your rig and send it to me or post in Contrib frm so I can see how you are rigging that set up. I had a the first fish I caught on one shred my bait on about 8 casts in....

Rig it the same way you do a shaky head. Twist the head of the bait on the screw then bring the hook up from the bottom and out / tuck it back it so its not exsposed and weedless. Weight will be under the belly of the bait.

Its on the packages...

The ones from Soddy Custom Tackle are too heavy (1/4oz) and the screw-lock is waaaaay too small in diameter. The heavy belly weight affects the tail action and the bait holder will not stay attached during long casts.

I'll run that by them tomorrow jason. Thanks for the review!

After zero luck on finding them locally, I took BBK's advice and assembled them myself. I picked up some 6/0 Owner's (screw-lock with a centering pin) and the lead weights that have a slit in the middle with a rubber insert at Fish-n-Fun. Easy to assemble and will be even easier to customize the weight depending on the situation.

Take a pic of that Jason and send it to me please. I want to see what the heck you are talking about... I've tried 5'0 and they won't work, found some shaky heads that have the pin on the head but no weight.... just cant seem to find a jig head that has a long enough shank and the Gamakatsu worm hook is the only one I've got that is big enough then crimp on a small bullet weight....
Thanks BBass.... the packages that I have have NO illustrations for dummies like me! But I do really dig that shaky head you gave me. When are you going to make up some more? I'll buy the lead!
