It is hard to believe the final CBA open for 2012 is here already. You know you are getting old when the years go by so fast. emoAngel This one is going to be a strange one. The bass for the most part are scattered and not stacked up anywhere. In some areas of the lake you can see five to six feet deep, it is like looking in a bath tub. The bass in these areas you can see and there are some beauties. But trying to get them to hit something is about impossible. Some bass are still working the grass edges and you can get them to hit a blade, spinner bait or swim, while others have gone into the grass and will sometimes take a frog, rat or a minnow type bait on top of it.

With all that said it is not easy to find five good bites. However some seem to thrive with this type of fishing. Last year this tournament was won by Greg Lamb and Mark Heatherley with 18.20 lbs. They also just won the 175 Series last weekend with 22.37 lbs. If I was a betting man I would be laying money on those two again with the record they have. It seems they know how to do it this time of year.

Last year also was Greg's son, Haden Lamb coming in at second place along with Jeff Richmond, they only had 16.39 lbs for second but they took it. They may be a team to watch.

Another sleeper this year is the team of Jamie Copenhaver and Adam Dysart. They took second last month with 20 lbs even. Jamie also just won the Action Alarms Legends event this past weekend fishing by himself coming in with a three fish limit weighing 13.01 lbs. emoThumbsup I would think they will do well also.

Hard to say what will happen. The lake is still falling. Weights have been down. Find the right patch of grass and I can assure you that 25 lb limit is out there. It is hard to call this one since so many variables play a part. Water level, temp, weather, the lakes above and below us, over cast vrs. clear and the list goes on and on. This time of year since it seems more bass are shallow those pieces of the puzzle play a more and bigger part of having a big limit. Shallow bass are effected more by these things while deeper bass are not.

What do you think? Who is your pick? How much do you think it will take to win it? emoScratch Jmax

Here is one of last year's winners, Greg Lamb and Mark Heatherley....(The ugly guy in the middle is Jeff Reed, just ignore him, he is helping them hold their fish since he did not know what a big bass looked like that day.lol)

Well, Oct. is here with a rain front and cooler weather moving in this week. emoScratch Should cool the water off even more and move those bass into the grass for the ones that still have not moved up. You can see huge balls of shad working the shallow flats and pockets along the river so the food source is there. I usually do better in poor weather then nice clear pretty weather. This may change some things. For Derek and I for the better, I hope. emoSmile For us, our goal is to beat 25th place. The lowest points that currently counts for us is 76 points which is 25th place so we just want to improve on it. emoThumbsup Now if we were to really get lucky and place in the money there will be no complaints from us. emoTongue

I am going to say it will take 23.25 to win with the weather change and I am still going with Greg and Mark. emoToast Jmax

I say Lamb and pard will win. Have not talked to him since last week but when you get on em and follow em like Greg can, well..... heck, he and his pard won 16 grand last week and I believe he won another tourny recently? Plus, he has a new bride and that cant hurt things. Crod

I'm going to guess Don Lamb and Eddie Wilson will win this one with 21.61 lbs. Both are exellent fishermen and are due for a big win.
