We fished a lot of different areas from about 7:30 to 11:30. Rip rap and drops mainly. We used dark colored tubes and grubs. Here are the total for MB:

6 SM > 12"
2 SM < 12"
6 spots < 12"
1 spot > 12"
0 LM
4 redeye
several drum
1 catfish
1 bat

I do have a pic of the biggest SM, but I was to tired to download from my camera last night and do not have it right now. I'll update with the pic this evening.

Good job When and Why! That's alot of catching right there.

I bet you like getting back out on the water! I'm also interested in how you caught a bat. :) Was it a dead one you drug up from the water?

We have so many bats at our house .. they are amazing to watch. Mosquitos are wicked right now and those bats just fly around scooping them out of the air.

When are you going to the secret hole anytime soon?

TT

On one of my cast when coming forward we heard something and I could tell I hit something, but we thought at the time it could have been the anchor light on the back of the boat (which I've done before). We also heard something hit in the boat and it was just going to be a mystery. One of the other possibilities was that I could have snagged something with my lure on the cast before and it flew off, hit my rod and landed in the boat. Of course being dark we couldn't see. When we trailered the boat and got around the lights, Why looked in the bottom of the boat and discovered the bat with a clipped wing stunned but alive. Ever so often we could hear a clicking sound from the boat, but again not knowing didn't think much about it. All I know, IT WAS A FREAKIN VAMPIRE BAT WITH FANGS THE SIZE OF A PITCHFORK.

TT, to answer your question about the secret hole, I'm not sure, but there is a good possibility that we will hit it a few times before the water gets all the way down.

When .. are you afraid of bats??? We had one living under our overhang at work .. until it got squished in the parking lot by a car one night. He was a cute little thing! What did you do with it once you found it???

TT

TT, they are really delicious if you put them on the grill....a few french fries and ice tea... really good.. yummyemoGeezer

Nah, I'm not afraid of them any more. As a matter of fact, I think I will go hang upside down during my lunch hour. I'm not sure why, just a sudden urge. I'm getting thirsty, too!

Never heard of anyone bbq'ing a bat!?! But hey .. whatever flips your switch! Personally .. I'd rather look at them then eat them. emoVomit Don't think it sounds good though.

When .. what did you do with the bat after you found it in the boat???

TT

GOT IT OUT OF THE BOAT!! Actually just laid it on the ground next to the launching ramp. There just so happened to be a young couple hanging around the area (not sure what they were doing there around midnight) that heard us talking about it and came over for a look. We left them watching it, the girl was thinking about taking it home.

The morning of the 13th .. I'm going to pick a pier any pier! :) Have any advice for me??? I have some information I've gathered from other CFF members that I'm going to put to the test!!!

I got a lot of vacation time I have to burn before the end of the year! ;)

Might as well spend it doing fishing experiments huh?

TT

Whew. Not sure about advice. Very rocky, there is the potential to lose lures in them especially from the piers. I may go with live bait from the piers myself. Shiners or minnows, or maybe some of the gangs special catfish baits if you want to target cats. One Pier in particular is lighted from a bright light hanging off of CB Robinson bridge. That could be my first choice for pier fishing. Fish seem to hang around lighted areas more than other areas.

Oh NOW that's a pretty fish ... don't know what to say about the holder! hahahaha

Man I take a good picture, even at night. I am just thankful that bat didnt land on my neck or my head, I would have left WHEN and the boat and the bat!

Hey Madbomber, I got some new worm heads to try out and they are called "SPOT REMOVERS!" If they work, I will let you know.

Every little bit helps!!

Take out a limit every time you go. Give them to a bank fisherman if you don't want to keep them yourself. Just remember that 1 bank fisherman can only have 5!
