TVA is in the process of bringing Parksville back down to winter pool... Anyone know why? I don't...

Look at it this way. The less water, the more concintrated the fish will be. Less places for them to hide.

I don't know why. However I do know that early in the winter they were working on No. 3 and allowing water to go through the upper rafting section (vs going to the powerhouse). Maybe they are doing maintanence work again.

Thats what I'll do then RSIMMS... Thanks.

One day of hard rain wont fill that lake up a foot! It's not as small as you may think!

I wish the fish would be more concetrated... but it seems that whenever they pull the water down the fish move DEEEP! I'm talking 20+ Feet all the way to 135Feet (Deepest end of the lake) They are hard to find then... But the fish really move shallow when the water rises. Hopefully TVA will bring it back up to full pool again.

Kevin, i've been on Parksville before and realize it isn't tiny, however I would imagine it has a very large watershed footprint. This prompted my comment.

I will have to agree with Brandon here, and looking at the graph provided, the levels fluctuate drasticaly leading me to believe a real gully washer will raise this impoundment alot more than you think.

Not saying that is why they are doing this for sure, but its not out of the question.

We'll see what happens then... This is confusing! Kings Slough isn't launchable right now or unless you wanna back off the ramp.

But think about it... Water rising 5feet on this lake in one day? That seems out of the question to me, even a full day of hard rain. I know we have the moutains and the rain drains off them into the lake, but I've seen this before and it doesn't really effect the lake except several inches.

Now, what is TVA's reply? I don't know yet... but already sent the e-mail in and will post what they say. (Maybe it's because of rain, but I doubt it) Thanks for your replys. Trying to reason out why in the world they would bring the lake down 5feet in just 3 days!

i may be wrong and it may be another lake but i recently read where they are doing some major concrete repairs on one of the lakes and to allow the contract company to get to the area they were going to form up before pouring the concrete they were going to drop to low levels for a good while then after the concrete was poured they would eventually raise it back up. like i said i don't remember which lake it was? you could do some google searches and probably find it.

Hey Crazy, they are working on the flashboards at the dam (spillway). Looks like the operation is to lower to elevation 834 by the 5th and hold at that level to do the work through the 18th.

team-d got it right. they are replacing some pf the boards along the top of the dam. They have to lower the water level to be able to accomplish this. Usually it takes a couple of weeks to get them all the way across. I don't know if they will replace all of them or not but there is a few busted out in the middle that they are working on.

They will have their barge up there and be done before you know it Kevin.

All I needed to know... Thanks guys! This may be a pretty good advantage, fishing should still be good while the water temps. are in the 60-75F range... So when fishing slows down again in late May and they start bringing the water back up, it should put those spotted bass back in the shallows. Hopefully.

TVA replied to my E-mail... and this is it...

The flashboards came out of the top of dam; therefore, the reservoir had to be lowered so the flashboards can be replaced. We hope to have repairs complete and begin refilling around May 16.

DoubleB - 5/12/2008 9:02 AM Use this time as a opportunity and put out some brush piles!!!!!!

I am not sure there is enough area to do it with the steep drop-offs on the vast majority of this lake. Besides that, there is an unreal amount of blow-downs in the water now....take LOTS of tackle to fish it. I have never lost that many lures in a few hours fishing.

honkytonker26 - 5/10/2008 4:06 AM Sometimes they do that to try and kill Misquito larva.

With the flashboards????? looks as if they would use a spray of some kind.....
