Went to the G to prefish today with stump jumper. We ran into Davo and Churly as well as Madd Dog and his buddy. Was nice to see some of the CFF gang.
SJ and I went to one of my secret holes to start with and didn't so much as get a look until we had been there well over an hour. Than had a nice hit on a spook but it missed it and did not come back. Between fighting the wind and the grass we finally gave it up after about three hours. Headed back into ML and started fishing traps. Had two get on and both got off. Finally got one in the boat but it was short. SJ also got a short one, all on traps. Went out into the creek and started fishing worms and I got a hard hit. Slammed back the rod to set the hook and the reel came off the handle and screwed up my hook set.emoBang I was really starting to feel snake bit. Finally SJ slammed one home and he got in, our first keeper. We tried there a while longer but did not get a thing more. Moved two more times and nothing. Finally about 1:00 we moved to a stump field and on the first cast I had a nice one just over three inhale the trap. We fished traps and lipless cranks for the next two hours and managed several more fish and managed to boat four more keepers that would have only gone about 11 and a half lbs. along with SJ first keeper. Not much in size for the G but we did enjoy it and had some good laughs. I know Davo nd Churly did not fair well but Madd Dog got on some good ones. I will leave it at that since he said he was going to post and with pictures. SJ and I caught our fish on a variety of lures, a red shad worm, a red trap, a royal blue trap, and an excaliber chartruse lipless crank. All our bass came from 2 to 6 feet in depth. We missed and lost several others today so we had the same problems a lot of folks are complaining about and that is they seem to be just slapping at the bait. I am looking forward to next week.emoCool Jmax
