ok this is my first year with my boat and really want to make sure I take the proper precautions to ensure longevity for the motor, I know I need to put fuel stabilizer in (any recommendations on brand and how, I have heard run it in fuel then disconnect fuel hose, and let it run out of fuel?) also being told I need to change out the gear oil, this one sounds a little to complicated for my nonmechanical skills what kind of brand or specifics do I need,

sorry for all the questions however Im the greenest of greenhorns when it comes to this stuff and just want to protect my investment

any help is appreciated and may the best times of your past be the worst of your future

thanks -Og

If you have an Optimax motor be sure to drain the filter and float assemble located on the side of the motor. Water can accumulate in these places over the season and freeze. Your manual should give details.

He has a 70 HP carb OMC.... You gave me a ideal....I will post the storage section out of many of the manuals for various models of mercury and what I have for OMC.
