hey guys witch gun do you think would be the best for my 8 year old to use on his first deer hunt an ar15 or a 20ga dont know if we will see one or not have no idea how close it will be if we see one or how far all i know is we will be in the woods not real thick but not open kinda in between thanks

I would say the AR. I would hate for him to see a deer 100 yds out and not be able to pull the trigger on a 20ga. That's just my opinion and like you said, its not real thick so chances are he could get a little longer shot at one. Good luck to you guys.

I agree with the AR. If money is tight, you could comb the US Money Shops or pawn shops for a single 243. Layaway is available with those guys also. If memory serves me right, a Pardner with scope can be bought fairly cheap and I know guys that shoot them.</p>

I've got a youth model .243 with a scope I'll sell ya for a good price. Or trade for a treestand.

the only con i have is the ar has a red dot scope on it i guess i could change it out for that one youth hunt as far as the guns go he likes shooting both thanks for the help guys he said he wanted to use the ar it looked cooler than his pump i told him looks did not matter and he can shoot both well at 20 to 60 yards the 20 ga dont have a 60 yard range but that is as far as he has shot the ar the red dot is good out to 100 if you have it on the lowest setting thanks again
