Just wanted to let the cat guys on here know that the skippies are showing up below the chick dam right now. Theyre not real thick yet but me and my daughter,taylor, went for a couple hours this evening and brought home 15 for the freezer. caught them on white hair jigs and white foley spoons.

I think there are some skippies above the dam near chester frost park as well.

I went to the pier to catch some bait, and I think one of the fishs someone else reeled in was a skippy.

I'm glad you got out with Taylor, Wade. I caught one of those crappie fishing couple weeks ago, lots of fun on a 4lb line with crappie jig, I know why it has gotten the name....its skipped and jumped and jumped.... emoBigsmile

We caught maybe 30 in less than an hour below nickajack. My youngest son actually quit fishing because he said his arms hurt too much to reel anymore in.

Got about 10 real quick below Chick dam today, then the bite went quiet.

There was a family there not catching anything. I asked if they wanted a few for bait. They said they were trying to catch them to eat. Seemed like they were on pretty hard times. Gave them all I had. Felt bad taking it home for bait when someone was trying so hard just to have dinner.
