Ok I will try to do this story justice. As most of you know Ive been doing ALOT of catfishing lately. I have the best wife a man could ever ask for who understands how much I love to fish and lately I had kinda been neglecting to take HER fishing..... So after work today we headed out down to Harrison bay. Went to harrison bluffs first and struck out there. I also had my little 5 year old girl with us so we really wasnt expecting to catch much..just wanted to get out there in the beautiful weather and have a day with the family doing what I love. Anyway after zeroing at the bluffs I went up to the nuke plant and put 6 baits in the water ( all skipjacks) We sat there about 30 minutes and i saw a very slight hit on the front rod. Probably 5 more minutes went by and I saw the tip of the rod bend down just a little and I knew we had him. I picked up the rod and it immediatly took off..ZZZZIIIIIIING went the drag. My wife said Hey buddy you better had it over.emoSmile So I said YES DEAR...And let her have it.emoSmile She fought it for about 20 minutes very hard ( like a PRO ) Note the position of the rod in the pic. She kept the pressure on and we finally got it to the top and in the net. Took both of us to hoist it in the boat. I recently bought a digital bathroom scale just for weighing these beasts. I weigh myself first and then me with the fish and subtract the difference. By myself I was 194 and with the fish...270 lbs!!!! It was AWESOME!!!! This has been my best year fishing EVER!!!!

Congratulations WLG and Wife! Great Report and pics - That first pic is awesome - Both the expression of your wife and the fish is great! Bathroom scales huh...that's a smart tip, probably makes it easier on the fish too. I'm showing this post to my sweetie Nikie - maybe I can get her out there sometime soon!

All the CFF big cat anglers should research what the correct procedure is going to be when you boat one that weighs about 135...emoThumbsup

She was actually asleep throughout the whole battle. When we got it in the boat we woke her up and she said HOLY SNAPJACKS WHAT A FISH!!! I dont know what a snapjack is but maybe its kinda like a skipjack???emoSmile emoScratch Then she did about crap on herself. It took alot of coaxing to get her to stand beside it for the picture.

Awsome day on the water with the famly. You got to combine two great things, your famly & fishing. And I can't believe how your wife just yanked that big old fish up like that. Man what a wife, does she give lessons?emoUpsmile Way to goemoThumbsup

Your wife caught Garfield the fat cat. That catfish sure was a chunk. Great report and pics. Cute kid you got there. What did she think about that "bigger than her" fish?

Way to go to the wifie! If I brought something like that to the boat my wife would be the one to want out and the daughter would be going crazy over the fish! emoLaugh Great job! Thanks for the tip about the scales too! Sounds like ya'll had a great day out there!emoThumbsup Thanks for the report too!

Shew that is one nice Cat there!!!!!My wife said she ready to try that lake out..Glad to see you got a wife like mine that likes to fish like us.If my wife aint with me she dont care as long as the boat is behind the truck she knows I am going to bring something home for supper. But something like that it would be picture only..Pays to have a digital camera with you at all times on your outings dont it?

That is amazing! WOW-- what a cat!!!! It is good to hear that skipjack is still the bait of choice. We caught one yesterday that was 20 inches long and I brought it home and put it in the freezer. That bathroom scale idea was a GREAT tip. CONGRATULATIONS to your wife for a monster cat achievement.emoThumbsup emoThumbsup

That is one FAT catfish! Very, very nice! I really like the idea of the scales too. I'll have to give that a shot. Thanks for the idea!...
