A little late getting this post in, but with the boat still in the shop, I headed to one of my favorite wild streams on Sat. Didnt get my feet wet til about 11:30, but with the rains, the water was in nice shape. Last summer it was so low, you could hardly get into casting position without spooking the fish. It was on right from the start. Started with a parachute adams & caught 5-6 , but had at least that many come to the fly & turn away. Went to a black EHC & that was it! Caught 25-30 more from just 4-5" rainbows up to the biggest wild fish i've caught from this creek, a gorgeous 16" wild brown. Also had a beautifully marked 13" wild rainbow. They gave me all I could handle on the 3 wt. & 7x tippet. Only fished til 3:30 & had caught & released 35-40 trout. Never seen this stream in such good shape & so many fish! Also had a good number of small fish, indicating strong spawns over the last couple of years

Finally got up a few pics.

Way to go there old man. Now if you can only figure out how to catch that many bass on a trip you would have it made. Do you eat those or do you only catch and release those too? emoScratch I would think a 16 inch brown would make a very good looking meal for you and your better half but with limited water and fish you sure would not want to do that much. JMAX, they are great eating, but I catch & release there too. A small stream like this can't take much harvesting, especially the larger spawner

Way to go!!

Dark Caddis are hard to beat. Float like a cork and very effective (as shown by your results). Better hit the vise and tie some up. A great fall pattern too!

Thanks for the pictures!!

It is a great fly around here! Can catch fish on them from April-Oct. Also, I put a little orange yarn on the butt sometimes & the trout sure seem to like it.
