I met JSV at the boat ramp about 15 minutes before daylight to go do some crappie fishing. We fished the bridge until it got light enough to see but did not catch a fish. We then went into the creek fishing the laydowns and brush with tube jigs and bass assassins. We caught a ton of fish. Not sure on the count but I would guess 30 - 40.

We only fished until 1 because i had to go to my son's basketball game. JSV took home a good mess of 11 crappie and 1 bluegill.

I had a great time Jason, whenever i get a chance we will do it again.

My son scored 4 points with 14 rebs, 2 block shots and some great defense for the win.

I had to brag a little he played against 2 very good big players and they scored NO points. emoThumbsup emoSmile

I apologize for the late report but I had a little computer problem here at home.
First I would like to thank Joe for a great day on the water, not only was it a great trip and we caught fish all morning but it was good to meet and fish with Joe. The one thing Joe left out of his report was.......Joe put a good ole whooping on me! (I believe Joe once said " he felt like he was fishing with BETTLESPIN") Just Joking Lance!!!emoEvil
I believe we caught well over 40. I know our ratio of Crappie was at least 3 releases to each Keepers and for some reason I did get on a roll catching quite a few small bream. We caught one double but they were little stripe. Needless to say, it was great getting on the water and catching was an added bonus. There was no one particular color which we really found that worked better than any other. A little dip of Chartreuse may not of hurt though.
I have been fishing the bank in WT and Harrison all fall and have yet to have a report worth posting. It was great getting out and Joe was a great host. Not only was the fellowship good, the fishing good but Joe insisted I take the fish home. Needless to say I have already made one meal out of them. Thanks Joe!
Congratulations on your sons good game. I am certain with leadership from you his success is only beginning. Thanks again.

Thanks for the report guys, I do have a question however. I tend to catch most of my crappies in the creek this time of the year but it always seems that if a big rain comes and muddies up the water that the crappies either just stop biting or move somewhere else. Was the water muddy where you were catching the crappies and also, have you had a similar experience with a water color change in the creek?

The water was stained, and i commented several times that it would/did scatter the crappie out. And they were scattered.

Yes. i never catch crappie grouped up when it is muddy or stained. My thoughts are that usually when water stains up quickly like after a quick 1 day rain only the top part (10 ft or so) of the water column is muddy. So i would guess that they move deeper to the first layer of clearer water and where DO is still liveable.

just my theory!!!

I just never had a theory about it, all I know is that the fish are gone from the brushpiles where I catch some good ones when the water is cold and clear.
