DK and I fished the creek and caught a bunch of really good crappie in the creek today. All of the fish were on cover and seemed to be very closely related to the creek channel. We only caught little fish on docks that were not in or right next to the creek channel. We used panfish assassins, ringer stingers and panfish stingers all on 1/32 oz jig heads and most were on a 5 count. The fish were on docks, both floating and solid, and on brushpiles that were near the shore or submurged near visible cover. There was some current that ran into the creeks at times and out of the creek at times. We didn't get out on the main lake because it was so windy. It was windy in the creek but I stayed on the trolling motor all day long. There was one dock that held a great population of big crappies but it was very tough to fish. It's a dock that I have eluded to many times but I would expect that most of the docks had been hit pretty hard all weekend but because this particular dock is tough to fish I would expect that the fish under it saw very few lures. Skipping lures through small holes under hydrohoists (the air filled cylinders that hoist boats out of the water inside floating docks) was the key. If we couldn't skip the baits 5-15 feet past the "holes" we wouldn't get bites. It was a challenge but well worth it.

So basically you're saying I would have no chance Polo?

Seeing you shoot lures at the very back of the dock and hitting myself in the face was very entertaining.

Thanks for the details, always enjoy your info.

shsimons you need one of Fat Alberts crappie sniper rods ... didnt take me long at all to start hitting a coffee can at 30 ft
with that. while my learning experience with a lesser rod did result with a few hits to the face ....... and some other more sensitive areas emoEek

Sam, you did well for your first time trying the shootin'. Getting good at skipping the bait through tight spaces is just something that comes the more you do it. You would pick it up pretty quickly. Half of it is just getting low to the water and shootin' with the rod bent in the vertical plane only and not the horizontal. DK is a master at it that's for sure. I'm getting better at it. It's really a hoot when you can be consistent shootin' to little spaces and catching fish that no one else gets to. We'll have to go again sometime.

With the time change next week,(YEA!!!) I will be available some evenings after work to get in a little more fishing Mark, I hope you will have a seat for me
