Fished in the afternoon for a few hours. The wind was really brisk and everyone was in the creek 'cause it was too windy in the bay, so I decided to just move around in the creek and check out some new spots. The water temp in the mid creek was 57 degrees and 54 to 55 near the Hwy 58 bridge. I found a couple of concentrations of fish, both bait and what I would expect were bass but couldn't get any action. I left long before dusk as pick up was at 6pm. There was very little activity in the sloughs. There were some fish on the branches of some of the downed trees in the mouths of the sloughs but otherwise I saw very little activity in the sloughs, on the surface or on my depthfinder. The concentrations of fish were either 1 on northern banks, with wind blowing onto them or on creek channel drops. I found a new drop that I had never fished before but had seen while running in the creek a few times and it had a brush pile on the ledge. It will be great later in the year. There were fish on the top of the shelf and at the bottom of the shelf too. I only fished there for a short while before I had to go but plan to really check it out better in the near future. Thanks again to whoever put that brush out, I will plan to catch a few bass on it later. I moved a lot today, mostly just prospecting and hoping to be able to be in the tournament this weekend and use something that I learn on the Chick to help me catch the big 'un Sat.

Hope you can make it Polo. What kind of fish finder do you use? Thats something I need to get better at. Seems like I just use them for depth, never believing what I see.

It's funny you say that flip, b/c my brother used to have a Stratos w/ an Eagle graph that would literally mark fish if you turned the thing on in his driveway. I''ve never seen a more optomistic FF in all my life!

are you fishing an open tourney saturday? if so, where and how much. I may be looking for a dog fight this weekend. My partner and I have been fishing the Jack and I think its time to go after the home waters. it is just tough to leave those big bass alone down there.

The forum's tournament CFF3 is Sat. on Guntersville. I am planning on being there if at all possible. It's $30 per boat, $15 per person, $5 per person wanting to be in the big fish pot. Most boats have 2 people and pay $40. 100% payback. The number of places that pay depends on the number of boats entered. You ought to come, they are fun, I went to the last one and it was great put some of the names on the forum with faces.

Thanks for your report I'm new to the fishing in this area although lived in Hixson for about 11 yrs. Just got my Mom and Dad relocated over at Soddy daisy and He loves to fish. We just got a fish and cruise pontoon and have it down at Harbor Lights marina. I hope to learn as much as I can from you guys and gals. I'll be venturing out from harbor lights and like bass or Crappie (we called them Specs back home in FL) even catfish if nothin else is biting. any way thanks to you all for the site and help

I have only been back there by boat once. I was cruising for the breakin period for my motor. I have seen it from 27 and have looked at the maps of it many times. Can you tell where the springs in Soddy Lake are when the water is down? They are all out in the middle and I would think would be hard to find unless they really put out a lot of water and there was little or no wind at the time.

In the very back of Soddy when the water is down you can definitely tell where the springs are. If the water water has any color at all you can see the difference in water color. It is very clear and you can probably see the bottom up to 10ft. The area I am talking about you can see from 27.
