The first Ratman Wolftever Dogfight Tournament had a much better turnout than either of us expected. We had NINE BOATS enter the tournament.

The bite was very tough and lot of boats came in with empty livewells.

Victor Rowe led the charge with a 2 fish stringer that included a solid 4 pound Largemouth and a 1.9 Largemouth. His 5.9 lb bag pulled out the victory and the big fish honors.

Mark Shelton and Victor Moore tipped the scales with 2 fish weighing 4.6 pounds.

The team of Martin Barbee and Mark Visage weighed in two fish for a total of 4.1 pounds.

Randy Wilson and Michael Wilson weighed in 1 fish at 2.11 pounds.

Come out and join us next week at Wolftever Boat Ramp. Launch is 6:45 PM.

6:45PM to 9:45PM

15 Green
18 Brown

3 fish limit
No dead fish.

$20.00 per boat entry
$5.00 per angler Big Fish (optional)

Thanks for the tournament guys.... was a lot of fun. I wish the keeper fish cooperated more. The fish I've been on for the last 3 or 4 weeks weren't there tonight. I had to get creative and experiment until we found something that worked. We caught 15 or 20 fish between 13 and 14 inches, but managed only 1 keeper in the boat. Had my line break on a good fish, but that was my fault emoBang
My deeper fish were either gone, or the one's I found on the electronics weren't interested in eating what I was giving them... for the 1st couple of hours, we couldn't even catch a cold. Bait fish were balled up everywhere and near the surface... the baitfish I have seen for the last month have been suspended in around 10 ft or so. The new current flow must have had something to do with this. I took the hint from these fish ... they moved up to skinny water... so, I did too .... we moved up to 5 feet of water off of the river channel and started catching fish... we boated 4 or 5 before we got a keeper... then kept on dogging it, catching fish on about anything we threw... but, they were 13 or 14 inch fish. Was fun catching them, but I wish we had some more keepers. I did have one on and broke my line... that shouldn't have happened... the guide on the top of my rod somehow developed a chip in it and was fraying my line the other day... I replaced the tip... but emoDoh I didn't change the line... before I respooled that reel, I wanted to make sure that was the only line guide that was chewing up my line.... I think I'll respool it now emoIdea

Was nice to meet some CFFers.... I'm not good with names and faces, but I'll get used to you folks.... it was a well run tourney and I hope to fish some more of them.

Yea thanks for the Tx guys! I hope to fish as many of these with you guys as I can. We had a rough evening, again. Im 3 for 3 now this week of not catching fish. Marked fish all day long, but couldnt get em to bite. Like Taz said, baitfish balled up all over the surface on the ledges. Then the went shallow and so did we. Managed to boat 5 or 6 fish, all dinks, and I let a keeper come unbuckled at the boat. Tried to rush things and get him in on my own, and he threw my jig right back at me. Better luck next time.....

But it was a well run Tx and I look forward to next week. Its great to meet a few guys and put names with faces and talk fishing for a bit. Fishing was lousy but the fellowship was great. I may see if I have an airhorn laying around at work somewhere Popeyedpete. Thought I had one on my boat but I didnt. Oops. Thanks again guys and I hope to see yall again next friday!

Thanks guys for the turnout for our first tourn. We weren't sure how many would show it being so late in the year but we were very pleased with it.Look forward to seeing everyone next week and maybe the fishing will be better for more of us next time.Congrats to the ones that got to weigh some in. emoApplause

I need to make a correction on the results. Somehow during my rush to write down names I got one wrong.

Randy Wilson and Michael Wilson weighed in 1 fish at 2.11 pounds.
