While your boat is on the trailer, don't go jumping up and lunging for an item on the deck of your boat that you can just as easily walk around to get. The cost to me was a ride in an ambulance and a four day stay in the hospital for internal bleeding with surgery scheduled next week. Course, it could've been those peanuts too Flip.

OUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!

Did a broken rib puncture some organ ???

I will try to remember that good advise!

fishinvol - 8/21/2008 9:56 PM Dang, what is bleeding?

Chris, bleeding is when a part of your body gets cut or crushed and a liquid starts coming out of the wound. Its a light to sometimes dark red colored bodily fluid. emoBigsmile

Or did I misunderstand your question?

I was preparing to go out with Flip last Saturday night. The boat's in the garage and I'm needing my needle nose pliers. I can't quite reach them so I jump up while lunging for them and come down hard on my stomach on the edge of the boat.. Felt a quick stabbing pain but no big deal because it dissapates quickly. Hit the water that night with Flip. The next day, I can't seem to get warm. Stay under the covers most of the day taking in the Olympics. By 11:00 p.m. Sunday night, the pain starts encompassing my entire trunk. The pain worsens overnight and by 6:00 a.m. my wife is calling an ambulance. They dope me up for 2 days while running tests. A CT Scan confirms the fact that there is a fair amount of blood in my abdomen. A surgeon is called and I'm fearing a quick date with a scalpel. My doctor and the surgeon decide that I'm no longer leaking blood but that my gall bladder must come out. Since I'm feeling better with no more dizziness, nausea, chills, or pain, I can make an appointment next week to have the deed done. I'll go under the knife next Friday. Thanks to Flip for calling me several times a day to check up on me. And Chris......I knew what you meant with your question.

Sorry to hear that m8 ... This won't help you in the BFL :(
If there's anything I can do for you, send me a pm. Surgery is never fun... hopefully they'll do it laparoscopic and not have to cut so much.

YOU ARE one of my broes, I would take the scalpel for you my friend, really .......... I would.

Thanks for posting! I know I've done similar things reaching for stuff in the boat. I will be more carefull now knowing this!

Get well soon!

Sounds as if you would have been better off going to wallyworld and buying some new needle nose pliers instead of doing a belly flop in the boat. Hope everything comes out ok.
