I have been using the Reel Grips for a while now so I thought I would make a review of them. First off I want to say that I am not sponsored by them but they make an awesome product.

When I first saw the Reel Grips on another site at first I thought they were just a gimmick and that they would add a lot of bulkiness to my reels. The board was getting a big order together to get a cheaper price on them so I decided to get some of them to test out. They were fairly inexpensive and I would spend that much just on a lure.

So about a week passes and I find a small package in my mailbox and it was the Reel Grips. After opening it up and putting them on a few reels I was gut hooked. Instead of adding bulkiness to the reel it makes the handle much easier to grip. I thought the handle on my TD Fuego was nice but when you add the Reel Grips to it they are awesome. So I went out fishing that evening and it happen to rain a little bit. What a perfect time to test them out to see if they really add grip to the reel or if they just make the handle look good. After fishing with some reels that didn’t have the grips and with the ones that did I can say that I found myself using the reels that had the grips on them more then the ones without. My fingers felt better after fishing and it added a lot of grip to the reels while it was raining. Normally on the reels without the grips my fingers will slide off the handle when it is raining or you are trying to reel a fish in. With the grips on my reels I don’t have that problem anymore. Needless to say the next day I called and made another order for the rest of my reels.

I can say now that after using the grips for several months I won’t go back to a reel that doesn’t have them on it. I have given several pairs out to the members of our Bass Club and they all agree that they make the handle much easier to find and you fingers feel better after fishing for 8 hours. Below are some pictures of my reels with the grips on them and a link to their site.

Yeah Blake, I think that is pretty much your fault that my child won't eat this week.;) I haven't been able to fish with mine yet but have fooled around with them and I have to agree, they feel great, look purdy too.

BTW, my offer of $75, heck $100 still stands for those bottom 3 rods. :) They look terrible and probably don't work anyway.

Byron Velvick ... emoBang

Just kidding. I see those things and that moron is the first thing that comes to mind. In all fairness though, they do seem really cool and exceptionally beneficial. I'll get some at some point, but enough to cover my twelve ABU's will be a tough pill to swallow.

I kinda feel the same way about the Rod Wrap product. You know, the stuff that looks like tennis racket tape you put on your rod handles? Awesome stuff. I love it on my TN handle spinning rods. But, just like Reel Grips, I can't justify 12 at the moment ... I'm spending enough just trying to keep some of you in DJW baits! emoLaugh

Ok, I've had a chance to try my reels with the grips and I have to agree with sdfd504, there's no way I can go back to handles without them. They feel fantastic. The textured grip is extremely easy to hold and I swear that I felt things better. You guys will have to take a look and give a cast with one of mine on Saturday. I promise that you will buy some. I am going to order a few more sets soon so that I can have them on every reel I own.

Great product.

Davo,
Isn't there a deal that if we order a bunch of them. they are discounted??

Any interest in ordering as a forum. People could pick them up at CFF tourneys, the Cat battle, the picnic, etc.

Just wondering what you guys though. We may be able to get them for about $4 bucks a pair. I know I need some more.

Guys if you want to make an order big enough to get the discount let me know. I am good friends with the co-owner of Reel Grip and I can see what deals I can get for us. Also guys when the Sportsman’s Warehouse store opens up if you don't mind let the Manager know that you like the colored reel grips better then the black. I am going to meet with him later this week to see what he thinks about the colored ones but as of right now all they will be stocking are the black ones.

Hey Blake,
I have heard that store is opening July 1st, is that still on? I can't wait to hit it. If you know when it opens, and it doesn't have to be a grand opening just when the doors are open, I'd like to know. Thanks for the info...

I hope the SW lives up to its hype.

It should. I have been in 2 different locations and actually prefer it over any Bass Pro I have been in (local 3). They have more USEFUL stuff and none of that XPS branded junk.

I personally like waterfowl hunting more than anything else (yes, even fishing) and they rock for that!! They have soo much selection there it is insane.
