My wife's family used to own a dock on Cherokee Lake and they had about a 5 or 6 lb LM that you could hand feed. You could get minnows and just splash the water with your hand and it would cruise right out from under the dock and take them. He came back year after year in late spring but finally he just disappeared. More and more people knew about him as time went by so everyone figured someone slipped in one night and caught him...

i had a LM in my 75 gal aquarium that ended up getting to about 14" that would eat minnows out of my hand. not nearly as impressive as a fish in a lake, but fun nonetheless. between him, my 22" blue cat, 8" cat and 22" gar, i fed them 1lb of minnows a week. the aquarium started leaking for a 2nd time, and i moved, so they found a home in a pond
