I purchased a boat with a 1989 40 hp Evinrude motor. The boat is hard to get started and idles rough. It eventually quits in idle. Once you give it the gas it runs fine at any speed. It has new spark plugs and a new fuel filter. I read where you recommend B12. I thought that might be a start but wasn't sure if it would hurt a motor that old. Thanks for any help. :)

I drained the fuel immediately when I bought it last week. It hadn't been out of the garage since 07. I just wanted to make sure the B12 wouldn't hurt a motor that old. I work with the previous owner and he said it had only been on the river 12 times since 95. He bought it new in 89. Thanks a lot. :)

Sorry I haven't been on here. trying to get one out..... It will not hurt the older engines. It will do alot for the fuel and fuel system plus start cleaning some carbon off.

Thanks, I used the B12 and noticed immediate results. The engine starts easily now and idles without shutting off. That stuff is amazing. Again, thanks for all of your help!!!! emoSmile
