Alan you may already know this but the tanks have pressure test expiration dates on them. Be careful if you buy one. If you buy one that is out of date or nearly out of date it will cost you about $100 to get it recertified. Gas companies also don't fill your tank anymore. They exchange them and will not exchange bottles from competitors. Renting eliminates these hassles but renting cost $10 per month from most gas companies. I've been down all these roads in the past 30 years. The best thing to do is go to your local welding/industrial gas place and do what they say. JMHO

Yep you are right Cheez and thanks for the heads up. My local gas supply will exchange anything under 36" high that is unmarked and anything over must be their tanks. Local rental is almost $.40/dayemoEek . Most tanks are certified for 10 years so I was hoping to get lucky. I probably should have been a little more descriptive.

Go to airgas on manufacture rd. I bought my 125CF argon tank for $126 full! I take it in and they exchange it. I get a little discount for working at Prebul. Give them a call.

Are you sure that's not $226 because that was about what I was quoted at my local Airgas in Huntsville?

It has been a little while, I still have the reciept somewhere. I wouldn't have paid that much!!!!!! I got rid of a 250 CF the other day that a guy GAVE me. I traded it for a 125CF so I could have 100% for aluminium and mix for steel. I could only weld Aluminium and had to go to flux wire for steel. Now I have both. A guy in HUNTSVILL has a argon bottle for $100. Here is the link!!!!!!!!!! http://huntsville.craigslist.org/tls/951570694.html
