I am lookin to buy a 24 to 25 pitch prop that provides lift on a heavy boat. I hear trophy, tempest provides lift and I'm sure theres others. any suggestions will be app.

I have a new 24 Trophy for $400.
The tempest will provide bow lift while the Trophy helps with stern lift.

Its a 88 basstracker 18ft glass boat with a merc 2 00. I tried a 23 laser and awesome hole shot but turns too many rpms. The motor was built by Wrechin to run at 6500 rpms but that 23 laser will let it turn past 7000 if you dont pay attention. It has the 2 to 1 gearcase on it. I'd like to have one that would keep me at the 6200 range.

is it a 1800tf and if so i have a evinrude xp on mine and it has a 24 pitch raker on it and i am fixing to go to a 25 pitch four blade to get more speed out of it

Light doesn't always mean fast. There is a LOT to consider. My Fishing boat is a 17' ski boat and it weighs #825 and is a slug compared to a 900# 19' bullet with the same engine.

Shane,
that engines begins to fall off a little past 6500 and as you see it pulls HARD to it with all the modifications that was done to it but you may be going to wrong route. You may want to go gearcase change then prop. If you change your gearcase it will tone down the RPM's and will increase in speed with the same prop. You need to run the 1:87 case I have here of Wes' and use the 23 laser and see what it does. Just my thoughts. I also have a 25 Tempest you can come get and try if you want.

i understand the weight but doesn't that go back to the way the boat is built......like my 18ft tracker has an evinrude xp 150 with a raker 24 pitch prop and it only runs 50 and no hole shot and but if i put a four blade on it gives me a better hole shot but the same speed.........so if i go to a four blade 25 pitch will that give me more speed

Yes, It goes back to design of the hull. Some boats you have to throw a ton of power to just to get to 60 and some will do that with very little HP. Some boats like my glasstream is a straked boat that helps in breaking the suction of the water to help lift easier. We had Shanes running nearly 60 with the small 2L 150 mercury. The XP will have a lot more UMPH if healthy. The raker is not a good hole shot prop but runs well on top. You may enlarge the vent holes to help your hole shot.

May have found you a 1:87 case. When I get time need to meet at the lake with oldman and swap gearcases for testing. If you both like the results then you can swap!
