I'm looking for and old beat up shotgun. I prefer a Remington or Mossburg, 20 gauge, 5 shot pump. PLEASE - No Vent Ribbed Barrels. This should not be old as in "collectible condition".
I mean old and abused. Cracked or broken stock, pitted, bluing wore off, Do NOT want a WARPED or BENT BARREL!!!! Unless the first 20 inches are straight!!!!! measured from chamber to muzzle. But should work and fire.
I'll be converting it into a small bore home defense weapon to compliment my Ruger 9 mm and saw the barrel off to 18.5 inches. (min legal length is 18 inches).
Remove the stock and put on a pistol grip, prep the entire gun for a coat of flat black. Then add night glow sights, compact flashlight w/ 2 settings (constant on and strobe) and may also put on a lazer site. The lazer will not be seen by the intruder as it's use will be inside the "safe room" with a closed locked door" They will see it after it's too late and they kick in the door BOOM!!!
I'll take a 12 gauge, but want something that will do less collateral damage to interior walls etc from stray buckshot. The 20 will also be easier for the misses to use and require less accuracy for her to deter the bad guy if I'm not home.
