I used to be able to buy "Jumbo Shiners" 4-6" from a local bait shop and I was wondering if anyone knew of any place that still sells shiners that big? We used to do very well with them @ Parksville.

An alternative to smokey mtn, would be in Riceville, Mouse Creek fish hatchery (or something like that), as they have several shiner ponds. Smokey Mtn will be more convenient and have better hours (Riceville place is by appointment only).

Hook through the eye and let them swim free, no sinkers. We always fished the east side of Greasy Creek slough and did very well. This is with the big shiners too, not small ones.

well it wouldnt be the greasy creek side crazy... just ask the guy in the yellow seadoo jet boat that was stuck there last sat for about 4 hours...... several boats tried to get to him but couldnt get within 100yds of him .
finally a guy in a flatbottom paddled up close enough to get him a rope long enough to reach a boat with enough power and water to get him out .

Yep, that would be it! I hate those boats... or the people that drive 'em! They have no manners what so ever, they will ride/ski up to 15 feet from your boat when you're fishing.

Haven't experienced that yet this year, but they'll be out here in April - right when the fishing is supposed to start being good again up at Parksville.
