yellow bass 11/3/2006

i went out yesterday below chick on the gravel bar. i was casting a size 4 tan redfish charley on 6wt intermediate line. almost every cast i had a fish. it was about 3 o'clock till dark. i bet i caught 125 fish. they were really piled up in there. i was wading out above the top of the eddy in the fast water casting out then letting it swing into the run stripping in with a fast 2 inch stop and go retrive.

Those are aggressive little devils, good eating too! Sometimes the Smallmouth move in on that gravel bar.

ive only caught one smallie on a fly off that bar but ive pulled some nice stripers outta there

When I lived on Watts Bar I would wade fish in late winter/early spring and catch 40-50 yellow bass a day. They are fun to catch and when you get a 15 incher on they fight like the devil. We caught a few over the past few weeks bass fishing and I was wondering if they were moving up in force into the shallows. I guess I have my answer.
