Youth Hunt - Oct 27 & 28

Does anyone know what the age limits are for eligible hunters for this weekend. The regs state 6-16. Does this mean it includes 16 year olds, or does it exclude them. I looked all through the TWRA info and it does not seem to say. My son turned 16 a week and a half ago, and I do not know if he is still eligible or not. Any insite would be appreciated.

As far as I know 16 yr olds can still hunt during the youth season as long as they have completed hunter safety.

I ask this same question several years ago and was told by a TWRA officer. "They can hunt as long as they have not reached their 17th birthday".

6-9 can hunt without the hunters safety class.

10-16 have to complete a hunters safety class.

You can be any age and hunt 1 year with an apprentice license and no hunter safety course, but you are only allowed the one year.
