I went out fishing with a friend yesterday for a couple of hours. Zero was how many bites I had while out there. I tried several different things to no avail. Fished in the sloughs throwing mostly to the sandy banks and pulling out over dropoffs. I'm not discouraged by any means. This isn't the first time I have fished a "zero" and it certainly won't be the last. My friend did catch one largemouth (less than a pound) on a rattletrap but that didn't work for me. The weather was beautiful and I was able to get a great picture of the sunset. Not much to contribute at all, but I did appreciate the words of encouragement. Thanks.

Sunshine, we need to get you on some fish. Do you have a map of the lake? Does it have any stumps marked on it? Do you know of any spawning sloughs? What type of electronics do you have? We will get you onto some fish! What type of baits do you like to fish best? The next few weeks should be killers, before the water comes up.

Well, our number one problem right now is that we don't have a boat. We are going to look at one toward the end of April. That's the first chance we have so we are looking forward to that. So electronics is really not a worry right now. We fish with several friends in their boats. Right now I am a non-boater all the way. Anyway, my most favorite lure is the jig with plastic. This produces best for me. Rock walls are my most productive place to fish any time of year although I am working hard to learn to fish shallow with other lures, especially the c-rig. I'm pretty comfortable with it but haven't caught much on it yet. I can't wait to get on some fish and bring in that boatload. Zero days don't bother me too bad unless it's a tournament.

Between boating invitations we go to the River Park every chance we get and fish from the piers. Sounds like no fun, but it actually is pretty fun. We catch quite a few bass there. We caught 15 one day -- all decent sized. Fish mostly T-rigged plastic there. I use this as a practice time -- especially for feeling the bite and setting the hook. Going to try to go there today depending on the weather. It also sometimes allows us a chance to educate people about fishing because there is always someone interested in what we are doing, especially the kids. They are fun.

Hope everyone has a great day out there -- no matter what you're doing!!!

If I were stuck on the bank, I would look to get to know people that own farm ponds. The other places that I would try are bridges/neck down areas that are easily accessable by car. I would go to googlearth.com and look at the aerial photos and find bridges that go over the creeks and slough arms and fish them hard as the fish will at one time or another stack up/stage in those areas before and after the water comes up, until the bass are done spawning. They also may linger around those areas looking for an easy meal post spawn also. There are lots of areas like this that are easily accessable to bank fishermen. Let me know if you catch any in these spots.
