Gotta love soft plastics for different species - especially those I pour myself

Thanks I've discovered some key ideas about lure design that fish strike most. Many lures I've used recently have no action-tails like that of a Mr. Twister grub or Sassy Shad. In fact recently a perch was caught on a lure that resembles a bullet. One would think that a lure...

Thank God fish are cold blooded!

UPDATE: water temp 40; air temp over 50. four species of fish using my hand poured minnow grub and Bobby Garland's pearl Baby Shad dyed chartreuse with Spike-It. I found that using a 1/32 oz jig head worked better than the 1/16 oz. More important are the new locations I'm catching fish. Up until...

NY angler wishes he lived in Tennessee

"I sure do miss all the small lakes, as well as Lake George and Champlain." As a veteran, I finally got access to West Point Lakes even though I'm not disabled. (The policy was changed this year.) Peace and quiet as well as some quality fishing! Ahhhh.... and only 40 min. from home.

Gotta love soft plastics for different species - especially those I pour myself

I started hand pouring soft plastic lures years ago and always thought the lures produced had to be as perfect as those mass produced by companies such as Mr Twister, Zoom and Berkley. Crappie in the rain

Caught many in a large school under cloudy skies, averaging over 10", many over 11" and one over 13". Windy has h*** but they were in shallow water in large weed pockets. If the air temp was in the upper sixties tomorrow, I would be fishing, but not in the low fifties. Hope you did well. Report?

Thank God fish are cold blooded!

Water temps in southern NY have been dropping by the week. A week a ago they were around 50; today 46-47 and with night time temps at 29 degrees, soon 40 will happen. Until this year, I figured it's time to pack it in for the year once water dipped below 50 degrees. But a friend of mine has be...

NY angler wishes he lived in Tennessee

Hate the winters and hate the taxes but LOVE the fishing. Born and raised in Newburgh, NY. Fished since I caught my first sunfish using a bobber at age 7(?) Stopped using live bait in 1970 after catching fish on a tail spin named Little George. Started making my own lures over fifteen years ago...
