05 250 mercury verado ???

I am lookin at a boat with an 05 250 horse mercury verado. Havent really heard anything either way on these motors and am trying to get some feedback. Anybody had one or know anything about them? Performance wise and dependability. I have researched them a lil bit on the internet and there are some pretty mixed reviews.

Stick with the opti-max has better performance and it is lighter = better gas milage

All I can tell you is that you can have a conversation doing sixty with it and sometimes I never even knew it was running (fished with someone at Clarks Hill that had one..). Boat was terribly slow or nothing and if I had my way, I would prefer the hassle of no oil....
