Bramsey i could share them or even fish them with you but the one thing i learned about fishing is its not the sacred spot its who can shake that jig the best!!!

David East showed my son and i how to crappie fish under wolftever last year. Standing shoulder to shoulder, using the same rigs, casting to the same spot, well he could beat me 4 to 1 every day. (modest ratio)

Ol' Crappie King (Dave East) is one the very best structure anglers...he's developed a feel, resulting a hook set that's deadly...WTK and Spot Stealer are some of his best pupils...his expertise is worth it's weight in gold...

Well,Well... you crappie guys are finally getting the right idea about "The Feel" on the crappie biting the lure...the secret to the feel is what you 'Don't Feel', that is when that speckled fish picks the jig up and knocks slack in your line causing you not to feel the weight of the jig anymore...that is when you've got to be quick and take that slack out without snapping it away from them before they spit that lure out!Practice makes Perfect is the golden rule...night fishing using black light to see and watch your line 'twitch' and then go slack is the best way I've found to learn this hook setting technique. Good Luck to all in the Tournament...hope to come to the weigh in and meet some of you new diehardcrappie fishermen.

Maddog, I have been telling guys/gals for years that on 9 out of every 10 crappie that I catch, I never feel the fish until I set the hook. I see the bite before the feel comes. My theory over 40 years of fishing for these is this. When a crappie sucks a lure in, you won't feel it, but when he spits it out or tries too, it will sometimes catch on his lips and as he makes a turn, then you will feel it. Those thumps that you feel, most of the time, the fish is hooked very near the mouth or just outside of the mouth. When you see the strike and immediately set the hook, most of the time the jig is buried in the roof of the mouth, very near the gullet. That's why I fish with Hi-Vis line, so I can line watch. Believers know. Unbelievers just guess. emoBigsmile emoGeezer emoTeacher

BTW, a theory is just a supposition based on ignorance of the subject matter. emoUpsmile emoUpsmile emoUpsmile

Maybe you or Jim would care to elaborate on this accusation, otherwise I believe you have insulted the wrong person...(the finger!)

Good luck to all, however my pick is Jim Ed ( AKA ) Catfish 1. He and partner will smoke them, all for a great cause. emoToast

Hippie's back is broke...I'm depending on ol' Darrell Burt,...he'll have to tote the load...lookin' forward to seeing all Sunday morning...word has it that one of our great crappie friends is loadin' up his truck with toys and coming to the weighin...if you can't fish, then grab a couple of unwrapped toys and join us for the weigh in at 1:30...come one, come all...

I have been poking the seasoned fisherman about spots, tips, and tricks. Catfish made a joke about calling "me" a "spot stealer". Im sorry you took offense to catfish calling me a spot stealer but I just usually just laugh at jokes and go forward. So I accept your finger with utmost dignity and will keep it for use another day. If you read the first part of the sentence I thought I complimented you on your explanation of the crappie bite. So I will try again,....nice explanation on the crappie bite emoCool emoGeezer emoWelcome

With reading all the posts , my best advice is for all you OLD guys is to to calm down . you guys will get all jacked up and blow out a hip ! This tournament is all about the kiddos , I've done my fare share of fishing , fished all the tournaments and still havent seen anybody just killing it . So it seems to me one man is as good as the next . Everybody fishes the same spots with in reason . Good luck to all , well almost ALL !

I evidently read the thread to make me the intended 'spot stealer' and there was no 'lol' or smiley faces attached ,I was only defending my integrity as a ethical fisherman. I need to get my finger back as I use it to tie on my custom lures when I am able to go fishing and alsooffer an apology for poking it at you. I wish Good Luck to all the participants in the Tournament and hope that the weather allows for a good turn out. Maybe since I'm a handicapped personand have no plans to fish the Tx, I should not have intervened and wrote anything on this thread to start with...All is good!

Maddog, intervene anytime that you want to. At least you gave him "the moving" finger. Per Big Bang Theory. emoBigsmile emoUpsmile emoGeezer

Maddog just what ever you do, don't quit posting reports. Us guys with minimum skills really enjoy them.

I have never fished that end of the lake but my wife and I are going to give it a try DK set a few waypoints in my GPS I guess if I catch any fish on those spots I will have to share with him
