After reading some of the posts about "honey holes", and how many CFF members (including myself) are feeling burned by giving out too much information, I got to thinking of how I have devolped my "spots" to take friends, family and clients to. Every angler should: #1 Take a video camera out with them during the low water season and video all the exposed cover while the water is down, study it, gps it and fish it again when the water is up. #2 Everytime you go fishing, force yourself to fish at least one area that you have never fished before. Those two techniques have produced almost all my "spots" over the years. I believe those 2 things can separate those who catch good fish year round, and those who are hoping to have someone show them a "honey hole"

Im happy if the report includes strategy and presentation information. Forget honey holes, the fish aint leaving the water so we go them cornered. Ive considered depth and presentation to be the dominant factor.

I've done the same in the past how to find new "spots" I use to fish for bass all the time now in the spring i fish for crappie don't get me wrong i fish for crappie in the fall and the winter too i still fish for bass not as much but I'm more likely to give you one of bass spots than my crappie spots I fish nickajack most of the time always at sullivans 80%of the time my pics are all on the wall there with crappie I catch and the bass too (what I call trash fish in the sprig).

I've got a neighbor who wins a lot of tournaments around Knoxville who told me recently don't get hung up about specific spots as the fish are gonna move around anyway. Sounds like pretty good advice to me.

To me dosent matter if I tell a particular area ..or depth etc .. it will prob be a week or more b4 I fish that area again any way .. and just because I give a general area of the lake .. I could never give the exact spot unless I gave GPS coordinates too and that aint gonna happen lol
If you cant take what I give you and catch fish .. then it dont matter if it was the exact same spot .. .. I get pretty specific with how and where I caught them .. but it changes hr to hr day to day.

Ive fished in the boat with pros when I was in my late teens , they tore em up I caught lil to nothing in back .. same lures etc .. the difference was the presentation, lure speed, attention to detail , confidence, and strike detection ..
So I dont worry about who is fishing where I am .. its a big lake .. lots of honey holes .. some areas Ive found produce fish yr round others seasonally .. I rarely see anyone fishing where I fish .. exact spots .. but then again I go alone 99% of the time
.. no body loves me lol

Its a shame that people have no respect. Everytime I go fishing that I'm not in a tournament I spend almost all of my time fishing unfamiliar waters to learn more. Makes for a lot of fishless trips. Everytime I have showed somebody a spot I have found they basically go fish it everytime they go fishing. Its a pathetic lack of respect.you don't just go find a hole. You have to find it and then learn how to fish it. Then you take someone and show them a good time and they wear it out everytime they go. I have no respect for those people and they will never get in my boat again. I have seen examples where a spot was shared and two days later you had to race that person to the exact same place in a tournament! I fixed that problem with a faster boat! I have also seen a lot of people go by and just hit the gps waypoint button so they can come back and fish where they see you.
