LOL!!!I know. I lean toward the dark side for the power aspect of it. I could give you a long list of common issues with both. Later!!

Channing, mine is similar, make sure the first time its trimmed all the way down, and that usually does the trick for me.

Update... I put a new bulb on today. It is one of those attwood brands from walmart.. does that matter?? I cant get it to pump up hard either, but I could hear it moving some gas through it.

Got it going in the right direction??? It will have a arrow on it and it needs to point toward the engine and away from the tank.

Attwood bulbs are junk. They will work but won't last. I would recommend getting a bombardier bulb. I have had good service out of them.

I actually agree with spam. Most of the time the aftermarket bulbs don't last. They seem to get hard as a rock alot quicker than OEM. But they do work, just have to replace them more often.

Where can I get a bombardier bulb? Personaly I thought the attwood bulb felt like junk, but I changed it anyway.. I think I'll take it back to walmart anyway... they'll take anything back with a receipt

I`m with Wrenchin` ...if the new bulb is installed in the right direction, and you can hear gas moving then it may be the fuel pump or seats in carb. Also check the tubing to the carbs from the primer solenoid. It`s bad to crack and/or get pinched in bends. Since it`s not a choke in the old style it should only flood if you push the key in and activate the primer solenoid too many times.

My guy told me one time when I asked him about the same problem that you don`t need to pump the bulb till it`s really hard. I found that my 225 actually started better if I just made sure the bulb was full and not hard. Push the key in once and cranking till it barked once .... then just turn key without pushing it in till it started and just push it in again if it started to act like it was going to quit ( running out of gas) till it got a little warm.

i had a 2000 200hp on the sprint i used to own,my problem was in the vro pump,i bought this thing new and was screwed up from day one!disconnected the vro pump, problem solved.own a 250 hp mercury opti now,on a 21 stratos,no more fuel problems!!!

The VRO pump is just blending the oil into the fuel. It is part of the fuel pump and it wouldn't cause a hard to start issue as by disconnecting it you would still have the same fuel pump just not blending fuel. If you replaced the pump assy with a non-vro pump then the pump portion, more than likely, was the issue not the oiler side of it. They rarely even have issues. They are easily blamed for engine failures and such and they 99% of the time not the source of failure. Here is a good little article on the OMC VRO's. If this were a mercury V-6 oil I would agree they were junk as they have actually damaged multiple engines from failure of the plastic drive gear on the crank.

I agree with wrenchin on the vro's they get blamed for alot of failures that they r not resposible for.

not yet, but I started it at my house after it sat for 2 days during the storms and I primed the attwood bubble 3 or 4 times pushed the choke for about 5 secs and it fired right up on the ear muffs. I am also having problems with my cranking battery right now, so I've been warming it up on the ear muffs before I carry it to the lake so it is less stress on my battery. I will let you know once I find a OMC bubble.

Good deal!!!

I was just going through a suppliers stuff and found this, and there were alot of people saying they had hard to start engines always. I seen that advertisement and thought it was odd. It must be a issue on some for them to make this it cure it. Just letting people be aware of it. Good luck!!!!
