I think most 20' boats are now rated for 250 (triton, ranger, skeeter, skeeter). I just always figured it was my boat and i paid for it, so i was gonna run whatever i wanted to as long as it wasnt illegal. and i verified all that first. most people dont realize that the same block is used for a 225, 250, and 300 hp yamaha. the porting is what makes the HP difference along with some other mods and computer items. but if you want a stratos that will run in the 80's, you gotta have HP.
I didnt get here without making some HP. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4k0U_6HXRso
not true. any boat over 20' is not rated by the coast guard, only the manufacturers rating which is really more like a suggestion. Besides that if someone is worried about that, i got 2 225hp yamaha cowlings, clamp brackets, and serial numbers ( i own 3 hpdi's). we can make this engine whatever someone wants it to be (225 or 250). or better yet, here is where you can get a new rating plate.Crizzel - 4/2/2012 1:42 PM
Isnt the 200 pro XL only coast guard rated for max horsepower of 225?? Thats probley one reason it hasn't moved yet.
