Okay. This thread is for suggestions for the 2016 Tournament Trail. Keep it civil, as commentsout of line will be removed. We welcome your suggestions and will review those submitted. I am going to throw out the suggestions given to me, regardless of if I agree with them or not. I will be freezing this thread the end of the month so the committee can review.

Wehave had a few initials suggestions including:

Moving Classic to 8 hours (increase time)

Fish some tournaments on Sunday

Splitting upClassic to allow one session of night fishing

Go back to one-day classic

Fish classic earlier

Start season earlier

Try 5am to Noon time in hotter months.

Instead of starting by number, allow anglers to proceed out and start fishing at designated time (honor system)

Go back to Guntersville Lake

Go to Weiss Lake

Add another tournament

Reduce tournaments back to 10

Remove +1 tournament at end of year

Do away with three big fish (go back to 1 big fish, or 2 biggest overall fish)

Add in a major league fishing format tournament (would require some work)

make it more fair for those that live on the north side of the river.when CFP cant be used for one reason or another make use of soddy creek ramp.when the tx is supposed to be on the north side of the river try and keep it on the north side.for those that don't know where Soddy creek is make a effort tofind out where it is before the tx begin again.

Moving Classic to 8 hours (increase time) yes

Fish some tournaments on Sunday no

Splitting up Classic to allow one session of night fishing I like day time better for the classic

Go back to one-day classic no

Fish classic earlier no

Start season earlier no

Try 5am to Noon time in hotter months-ok either way on this one

Instead of starting by number, allow anglers to proceed out and start fishing at designated time (honor system) Ok with me

Go back to Guntersville Lake yes

Go to Weiss Lake yes

Add another tournament no

Reduce tournaments back to 10-10 is plenty

Remove +1 tournament at end of year

Do away with three big fish (go back to 1 big fish, or 2 biggest overall fish) no

Add in a major league fishing format tournament (would require some work) no, you are going to open the door up to things and people that don't need to be part of this trail, no way to regulate it and will create trust issues. I can see it now, same guy wins two or three in a row everyone will be going on behind his back how he must be cheating or some BS like that

AN IDEA TO KEEP IN MIND IF YOU DID HAVE A GUNTERSVILLE TOURNAMENT IS, IN JUNE THERE IS A FREE FISHING DAY WHEN IT COULD BE HELD SO YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO BUY AN ALABAMA LICENSE

I haven't been fishing the trail for the last several years, but may this next. Here is my 2 cents.

Moving Classic to 8 hours (increase time)-Yes

Fish some tournaments on Sunday - Maybe a couple

Splitting up Classic to allow one session of night fishing-no

Go back to one-day classic-no

Fish classic earlier -no

Start season earlier- sure

Try 5am to Noon time in hotter months. -Yes

Instead of starting by number, allow anglers to proceed out and start fishing at designated time (honor system) Sure

Go back to Guntersville Lake-Yes

Go to Weiss Lake No- ( just because I'd be the one to hit one of the millions of stumps :) )

Add another tournament- no

Reduce tournaments back to 10 -Yes

Remove +1 tournament at end of year- ??

Do away with three big fish (go back to 1 big fish, or 2 biggest overall fish) Yes ( Maybe the 2 biggest)

Add in a major league fishing format tournament (would require some work) - No

My one suggestion would be to have a "white card " type system. If someone has the post count to fish the tournaments, but knows they can't make enough tournaments to qualify for the classic then they don't have to pay the club fees. But only allow that angler to fish 1 or 2 " on the white card . Any more than they have to pay the fees. If that makes sense.

Do away with three big fish (go back to 1 big fish, or 2 biggest overall fish) no

Add in a major league fishing format tournament (would require some work) NO everyone does not have the same type scales in their boats.

and as far as the free fishing day in Alabama I'm not sure but I would think that would be just for the folks that live in Alabama I may be wrong.

Here is my $ .02 on these suggestions

Moving Classic to 8 hours (increase time) OK

Fish some tournaments on Sunday No, except Classic

Splitting up Classic to allow one session of night fishing Not unless it was much earlier. Last two years , it has been cold enough during the daylight hours.

Go back to one-day classic No

Fish classic earlier Yes, 3rd or 4th weekend of September

Start season earlier Yes. How much difference between last weekend of February and first weekend of March ? The weather would be a crap shoot either way.

Try 5am to Noon time in hotter months. No, I like to sleep in.

Instead of starting by number, allow anglers to proceed out and start fishing at designated time (honor system) No, we don't have that many boats. It would level the playing field for those of us who have the slower boats, we could be on our spots at the start.

Go back to Guntersville Lake ?????????

Go to Weiss Lake Prefer not.

Add another tournament ?????????? Only had one in April. Two March, May.

Reduce tournaments back to 10 No

Remove +1 tournament at end of year No

Do away with three big fish (go back to 1 big fish, or 2 biggest overall fish) No.

Add in a major league fishing format tournament (would require some work) Prefer not.

Please get the whole year calendar out, including Classic weekend, when posted. I could not fish the classic because the date was posted after I had other commitments. Was not on the initial calendar.
I also liked the suggestion of a per angler, vs boat, entry fee. Had a couple of circumstances where my potential partner had to bail at the last minute, and didn't have time to find another. Some of us split the boat fee to $ 20 each, and I'd rather not pay for two to fish alone, fished anyway.

Bottom line, thanks to the committee for the work, time, and effort y'all contribute to making the CFF tournaments fun, and successful. I understand sometimes it is like herding cats, and no matter what you do ,someone is not happy. emoBang I do appreciation your dedication emoWorthy emoToast . Speaking of toasts, anybody up for a beer or six ?

I don't know how many tournaments I'm going to fish. Seeing as how I'm a backseat fisherman. I only fish when I can get a backseat. You ask for my opinion, so here's mine. I also agree with Smalliefan2 with the exception of No Alabama tournaments. During the hotter months maybe a safelight until Noon tournament? I prefer to keep them on the Chick and Nick Lakes. Lets keep it local.

I fished a few of these in 2015 and started to type my response but since Derek's response was exactly mine... I just included his again...

Here is one more thought on the entry fee's for next year
20.00 a man x2 = 40.00 a boat includes big fish pot
15.00 a man x1 = 15.00 plus 10.00 for big fish pot = 25.00
this is just a thought

I did not fish any last season but I plan to fish as many as possible the 2016 season. I will go along with whatever you decide.
