I sneaked over to why's dock yesterday from about 7 to 8 to see if the crappie were still hanging around and only managed 3 small crappie, 5 bluegill, and 2 goggle eye. I fished with artificial, those very small tube jigs.

The thing that got me wondering was I could not keep the dang bass from hitting my float. Six or seven times in different areas bass would smack my float and take it under. Shucks, I set the hook like I was going to hook em too!! But then again I was using one of those elongated floats so it did look a lot like a corndog.

I wasn't prepared (at the time) for bass especially a top water bite.

Depending on your bobber color..... maybe you should have had mustard or ketchup on your corndog!!!!!
Silly boy..... dont you know your always suppose to be ready for a bass?!?!?!

Polo, 4 of them were probably small bass because it looked more like they were nipping at it. Two of them took the float completely under for a second or two until I jerked it out of their mouths. I just couldn't help it.

I don't know why I didn't take any of my bass gear. I guess I just wanted to stay focused on trying for crappie.
