This is a great thread. I've enjoyed reading each post. Jmax, your fish reminds me of the one I posted about except mine was 2" shorter. Those fish looked like they would explode they are so loaded down. We are almost into February --- Spring is coming, I'm working to get my stuff ready, new batteries, oil / lube changes, trailer maintenance, new to me front Humminbird unit and so forth. None of us know how many fishing adventures we will have left before we blast off to eternity. Stay with me, this is at no charge mind you -- Take the time to enjoy what God has blessed us with, share our knowledge and time with others - especially young people, and make sure when your bus pulls up for the trip to the next life, that we will all make some day, that it will be the right bus emoAngel

Here goes, best largemouth on Chick came in early march on a small jerk bait in about 3 ft of water 12.4.. best spot was on Nick April 1988 6.1 caught on a rebel fire tiger in apx 6ft of water. And smallmouth was a 6.12 on a hair jig in January.

A few years ago my dad and I fished a club tourney on a Thursday in mid-April and it was a few days after the water had come up fast. He caught a 8+ and a 7+ that day, one on a senko blind casting on a shallow shaded bank and one on a crankbait. I have caught an 11 years ago at Lake Weiss, but that day I lost the biggest bass I have ever had bite a bait. I could see her in some bank weeds that had flooded, she was 12+ and I got her to hit a frog over those weeds, but she hit it and just as fast as I set the hook she spit it out. I had her hooked on the lip for a split second, but it came loose fast. There were 3 that size up cruising that weed bed that day that I saw. You guys are lucky to have the quality of fish you have there, I know it has taken lots of work to get that lake to that point, but at times that lake can really show out with some huge fish. We normally only fish up there maybe 2 of 3 times a year, and it is always a fun trip because you never know what you might catch.
