I CARRY A GLOCK MOD. 39 CALIBER 45 GAP, AS A BACK-UP WEAPON. IT HAS PERFORMED FLAWLESSLY FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS. NO JAMS NO EJECTION PROBLEMS. I FIRE AT LEAST ONE HUNDRED ROUNDS A MONTH ON THE FIRING RANGE.

My farther has 4 kimber fire arms including the ultra. He has never had a problem with any of them and shoots often. He also put some Crimson Trace grips on his ultra and I think its a very formidable gun.

Everyone has their personel prefference either from experience or obtained information, mine comes from years of experience and my first choice would be the 1911 colt, I have had one over 30 years, even in a pinch it fits very well in the small of your back. clutch 442 is well educated and his advice on an h-k should be considered, I have an h-k .45 compact and I love it! something else to consider is the h-k brand is like a BMW they hold a higher resale value than other pistols. The best and most important advice I could give you is shoot as many different weapons as you can whether it be your friends or at a well respected dealer that has demos. Take your time and make a good decision. John moses browning and Peter paul mauser were the only true genuises of our time.
