CASE & POINT!! emoRolleyes

beetlespin - 2/25/2010 1:34 PM We have been borrowing Chinese money for several years now. Our taxes are only enough to pay the interest on the national debt which means they have to look elsewhere for the money to run the Government. That is straight from the Lee Iocooca book I just finished and he is definetely not a republican. We are running this country's government on Chinese money. Doesn't that worry any of you?

As many of you may know, I do not normally respond to these type of topics, because it normally turns friends against each other, but something just tee'd me off....

Doc you said "No one wants a tax increase, no one, but it is as plain as the nose on our faces that to gain on our national debt, this country needs more income that is not borrowed plus the interest that has to be paid back. Where can our government get this money? We have to have a tax increase some time in the future. We can also cut back on our spending which would lighten our load. We can also quit buying imported goods, make the goods here, keep our dollars in the USA"

Doc, we make a lot of products here...let me give you a few exapmles, ChooChoo, X-31, Punisher, SWL, Mercury, Grande Bass, Burton Baits, Go2To and the list goes on....Secret Weapon Lures actually went out a bought the company that manufactures tackle here in the USA to keep from going over seas...We would have shut the doors before that happened...our prices are higher than Booah, Strike King, Tru Tungsten, and other because we have to pay to keep our product made here at home. We are taxed out the the wazoo, sales, excise tax not to mention all the others like FICA, Income Etc...The American worker has made better products for years and has relied upon each other for a helping hand when needed....but we have people that say one thing and than do something else....so I guess what I trying to say is you are absolutely correct one a couple of points but you (IMO) are lacking just a little on walking the line of which you talk....look in your tackle box, boat, garage....this is what is partically wrong with our country....if you truly believe what you are saying you will trash every piece of tackle that is not made in the USA and you will be buying a new Mercury to replace that Suzuki on the back of your boat.

It was a sad day yesterday to learn that another local tackle shop was going out of business in Tullahoma because they can not afford to compete, and we have people who will not pay an extra .10 cents for a lure...but those same people drive all the way to Nashville or just five miles down the road to Walmart to buy a worthless piece of tackle made outside this country just to save that .10 cents.

We do not need to raise taxes....we absolutely need to buy american made products...this will not fix it all but you had darn better believe it will help!

I did not say I walked the line in buying all USA products, if I did there would be very little around my house. The suzuki on the back of my boat was purchased in a packaged deal with my dealer. Now go back and read my post again.

...not everything I buy is made in the USA... These are your words Jake, not mine, you are saying the same thing as me but you are putting me down for putting it on here. If you are so dead set on buying everything made in the USA, buy it, don't mince words, drive to the end of the earth to do it, drive to nashville, atlanta, etc. to buy USA. I buy made in the USA when I can but but I won't drive 50 miles out of my way to do it and you won't either. Check all your rods and reels and get back on here and let us know where they are made.

How are those Ardents? I met the owner of the company a few years ago and talked about his reels when they were first starting up. Unfortunately, they didn't make a lefty at the time, but they did seem like high quality reels.SWL Jake - 2/26/2010 12:02 AM
Well, my rods are All Pro APX's made in the USA and my new rods are from Grande Bass also made in the USA...every reel I have paid for is Ardent's and before you ask my boat is a Triton and has a mercury on the back and its towed by a chevy Tahoe...its very convenent that you left out rest rest of what I said....guess I should have expected that....and your right not everything I buy is made in america, more importantly I own up to it before...but my big ticket items and most small ticket items are. You need to put the common sense rule in to effect and not the excuse rule, of do what I say not as I do...now lets go fishing when the weather warms up.

Bfish, Not sure how you came about the information that the APX's and Grande Bass are not made here including the blanks but I use to work for All Pro and now for Grande and they sure ae made here...the guides and reel seats come for offshore guys because they are the best (like 99%) of all other rods but the owners of both these company's (original owner of All Pro Rods Roger Ray) will testify on a stack of bibles....let me clarify one thing the All Pro Hercules was orginally made in china but they quite that about 5 or 6 years ago because of quality issues....

There is nothing wrong with medicare and social security, they work fine and always have. If you don't pay anything into it, you don't get anything out of it, just like a savings account.

they were saying the same thing 30 years ago for my age group.....
