Thanks for the report. Were you on a flat or were you in the channel? Did the fish seem to be on cover of any kind? Are there any spawning flats near by? If it were me I'd hit the 8-12 foot water in or near the spawning sloughs. With the water temp up near 50 I would expect the fish in the areas near the creek channel or in the first 1/3 of the spawning sloughs. Finding isolated cover or drops is what I would try for. If there is grass, all the better. Soon, if not right now there willl be huge numbers of small males on the flats on hard bottom sloughs(spawning sloughs) in the 2-5 foot depth range. They will be suckers for rattletraps. The bigger females will be off and on those flats but more consistantly I think in the water that's a little bit deeper.
