You hear all the time about all thesecitizens who have carry permits to carry a hand gun. The ones who complain speak as if every other citizen is packing heat and that is so unsafe to even walk out of your home. Well a test just came about in Colorada. Where were all these people carring weapons? Just imagine what the very realistic outcome would have been if there actually had been about four armed citizens within fifty feet of that door in the theater. Four people firing back at the gunman would have ended the mass shooting in about Five seconds. Where were all those gun owners we hear of from the anti-gun owners inside that theater?

You wouldve had to gotton off a head shot or legs because he had body armour. I agree it couldve been different but I carry and I wouldnt want to go up against a shotgun and Ak with my pistol. I can hold my own shooting but under that kind of pressure it would be tough. Best scenario is to flee unless you got an ambush point (and you better not miss). I would rather have had a gun in that situation just in case you get cornered.

Snipers right! With all the smoke and tear gas, no way unless god was directing that lead, would you have dropped that guy. I would have done like a few did...laid and played dead with the barrel ready to go just in case.

Sad day....now we get to watch a money driven trail. Take him out back and be done!!

How come nobody saw it coming
Where did he get the money to purchase all that gear
at his young age.

Someone had to know, as he had to be buying on the black market.

Sad. I really think I would have a hard time playing dead if I were armed. I just don't know how I could just lay there while others are being shot. Yes he was wearing a bullet proof vest but that dosnt mean if you get shot in the chest it dosnt hurt like hell. Two in the chest one in the head, game over!

Shooting in a dark theater is not the best situation. Plus, I agree with others. Body armor and his hardware are hard to beat. Like taking a knife to a gunfight.
Theater- no gun policy- ignored
I would wager Aurora has a law against discharging a firearm in the city limits- ignored.
Colorado, and other states, have laws against killing people, no matter what weapon- ignored.

My question- Why would anyone take a kid to see a movie at midnight? Plus the movie is known to be very violent and not for kids.

You can not blame people for living... Summer months and part of the mystique of those action thriller movies is the Midnight hour showings. </p>

Where he got the money is that he was well educated and had been a gainfully employed individual. No record to show any signs that he could have been profiled. .. </p>

As far as his Body Armour. throat and crotch protection and the helmet ... A large caliber round on the chest would have knocked him off his feet and put a real hurting on him. He was so close to people that they were being burned by the hot brass.. And to turn and run was the ones he was targeting most. I realize hindsight is 20/20 but when my life is on the line. my noodle starts to ticking.. I would not have stood and had a shootout but I would have analyzed the situation. Being in the dark and he having a mask would have worked in my favor to get close and put a hole through that gas mask. </p>

I realize This is all just talk,, But still I would have much rather to have seen that scenario played out than for no one to have any means of defense. </p>

Something I have also noticed is that all these type incidences are happening where citizens are known to be unarmed. I wonder if that is why nothing like this ever happens in Rednecksville?</p>

After typing in various search terms into Google, such as guns, deaths, and England I found the following on www.juancole.com. Other sites had the same information.

In 2009 there were 9,149 murders by firearms in the United States. In 2008 (the last date given) there were 39 in Britain. Britain has 20% of the population of the U.S, so five times 39 is 195.

9,149 to 195 is quite a ratio: 46.9 to 1. I was surprised to see that the difference is that great.

And I would venture to bet that the penalties for murder with a firearm in any country outside the USA makes it a real consideration and determent for the shooter. Here the numerous shootings every night in the Hood is just a joke. I would assume the numbers of murders by registered guns in the hands of the trained owner is only a fraction of the numbers here in the good ole USA. I would like to know in the number you posted, just how many were gang related and with illegal guns.

Interesting ...</p>

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/3671752.stm</p>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif, 'MS sans serif'; font-size: small">"With over 800 murders a year, up by a sixth in only five years, this reinforces the need for punishments that deter killers."</span></p>

So GB has asentencefor Life if you are convicted. And people are complaining that there may be a plan that Murderers could "Only" serve ten years rather than the required Fifteen years before they are allowed to have there firstparolehearing. And that is only if you come to the police and plead guilty before the crime is discovered. NOFRIGGINGwonder why we have so many more here...</p>

Fifteen years for murder is not long enough. If they murdered a friend of mine I would want them put away for life.

It is 15 Yrs until the first parole hearing to be considered for release. There are many opponents to early release in GB</p>

Here they are on the streets killing again before their first court date.</p>

Very few countries have private ownership of firearms. Great Britian, Austrailia and South Africa banned the vast majority of firearms (google it, if you want). They are trying to figure out why the drime rate went up! Canada tried a vast registration scheme in addition to all they have on the books. It was a failure as it was going to cost many times the original cost.
Let's look at Switzerland. Anyone know why they have never been invaded? Each citizen between the ages of 18 and 55 are REQUIRED ( unless exempt for a good reason) to keep a fully automatic rifle and ammunition in their home. Periodically, they meet for target practice. Switzerland has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.
Only one crime has been committed with a Class III (look up the requirements by the BATFE) weapon since the 1934 Weapons Act. If my memory serves me, taht crime was committed by a policeman.

To further ask about the movie, what kind of parent is taking a six year old to an <u>R rated movie</u>???????

A sign on the front of a building that says no guns was just an invitation to this guy. If just three or four people had been armed with just ten rounds each it would have had a different outcome. I carry a H&K P30 9mm with 15 rounds of +p ammo. The gun is equipped with night sights. There would have been NO hesitation on my part to end his life! Yes the head shot would have been difficult but I would have fifteen chances. He wasn't military trained so he would have sh!# his paints when I fired a couple into that "armor". Even if I saved one it would be worth it!

Oh yeah. The flack jackets you can get at the local Army Navy store are NOT bullet proof! Chances are that was what he was wearing.

No Humdinger ... they will stop large caliber bullets where the bullet will not penetrate into you but the Armour does not stop the impact. Even with the vest it feels as if you are being slammed with a sledge hammer. It will slam you on your arse in a split second, break ribs and a spine hit can cripple you even with the vest. If he was being hit I say he would turn tail and run. Small calibers like a 22 mag and especially hot small loads like the 17 cal are deadly to the Armour.
