Chattanooga Fishing Forum

Help Support Chattanooga Fishing Forum:

The problem is related to a “malicious ad” that was able to get into the Google advertising network. The ad would trigger the popup as you browsed your favourite
websites (including CFF). The ad has been removed, but if you’re still experiencing problems, the best way to make sure you don’t see this malicious ad again is to clear
your cookies, cache, and browser history.

Here’s how to do that in Chrome for Android:

Navigate to Chrome’s Privacy tab by going to the Triple Dot menu button (upper right-hand corner) > Settings > Privacy.
Once inside the Privacy tab, tap on “Clear browsing data” (the large button at the bottom).

How to clear cookies, cache, and history in Chrome for iOS:

Open Google Chrome on your iPhone or iPad, tap on the Triple Dot menu and click on “History.”
Click on “Clear Browsing Data …”
Select which browsing data to clear (“Browsing History,” “Cookies, Site Data,” “Cached Images and Files”), then tap on “Clear Browsing Data” at the bottom.

How to clear cookies, cache, and history in Safari for iOS:

Launch the Settings app from the home screen of your iPhone or iPad. Scroll down and tap on Safari.
Scroll to the bottom and tap on “Advanced.” Tap on “Website Data.”
Scroll to the bottom again and tap on “Remove All Website Data.” Confirm again you’d like to delete all data.

I just got it again after clearing all web data so the ad is still there. This is on my iphone. It doesn’t happen on my laptop because I run a pretty strong ad blocker. Guess I’ll go find one for my phone too because these guys won’t ever give up with their bs

Still there! Cannot stop it any suggestions?.. Dr DrDetroit

I tried all the suggestions but my iPad continues to be plagued with the pop up!

Got to the App Store and get an adblocker. It blocks all ads so it isn’t friendly to advertisers, but whatever. The one I got for my iphone is named adblocker and is free, and I haven’t seen that pop up since. For my computer I use one named adblocker pro. Side bonus it blocks YouTube video ads as well. If you feel it is unfair to advertisers and site owners well, we all have choices to make, I’m just sharing a solution :)

Thanks Mikie9. The Adblocker stopped all the ads.
A shame we have to do that but the Amazon ad was relentless. I know the CFF relies on some ads to stay in business, unfortunately to stop Amazon we have to stop all ads.

The popup isn't Amazon, its a hack that got into the ad network that pretends to be amazon. I came to the conclusion all advertising is bad years ago. Glad it worked out for you man.
