Looks like once again the dems don't have enough male anatomy to get something done. This is even funnier now since this article says there was only one Republican objecting. If you boys is skeert just go ahead and say ur skeert.

I have an idea for a new TV show, "Doc and Cheez". Unfortunately for Doc, we would probably have to put it on Fox News, otherwise nobody will watch it...

I guess all the out of work and unemployed loved this news, I think there are a few on here who are out of work and drawing unemployment trying to keep their heads above water, I guess this is fantastic news for them, giving them a lot of hope for the future. Be sure and do a spin on this and make it a democrat problem.

Yep...another NO....

From your link...The benefits are part of a larger package of government programs, from highway funding to loans for small businesses, set to expire Sunday because senators couldn't agree on how to pay to keep them going. The House passed the one-month extension on Thursday as lawmakers continued to wrangle over how to address the issues long-term.

So how in the heck can you pass this without funding...it about time someone said stop! Show me the money...the nation is bankrupt for the most part. It time for some good old fashioned personal responsiblity.

What would you do Brandon, in this case, let everyone on unemployment go hungry or extend this bill?

Doc, I would cut inheritance taxes first, which would flood the market with new capital (ya know people buying stuff, and investing in businesses) which would in turn grow the economy , which in turn would create jobs. Second, I would cut business taxes (not give them a credit) which would create more sustainable jobs, then just a tax credit that is good for a year. That is where I would start.

Second, I would educate the public to be prepared for times like these. Live on what you make, not what you wish you made. Save instead of blindly spend. Prepare for the unexpected. Then I would ask them to go to www.daveramsey.com, listen good and hard, read the Total Money Makeover and get smart financially. Personal accountability.

My heart goes out to folks who have lost their jobs. I hope they find new ones soon. There are tons of jobs that go unapplied for in Huntsville though (4 engineering positions at the Corps went unapplied for!). Maybe some folks that are out of work are too stubborn to try something new and/or move. I know personally someone who got laid off, started his own tackle company (poured himself into something he loves) and now he's doing great. In these times folks got to get creative. The American Spirit is still alive and there are opportunities to be had.

In the meantime I dont think you can spend your way out of trouble. Debt drops your net worth, and I fear inflation.

I will go on the record and say this: I don't believe the Republicans have helped much, and in the same breathe I don't think the Democrats have either. We are over a year into the Stimulus and how much better are we? I believe none of this will change until politicians start working for the people again and not for themselves. Politics shouldn't be a career it should be a duty.

Also, I called the IRS like you suggested. I have not moved tax brackets (yet) this year. I have not got a tax cut. If I had a child or was married I would have been cut on my standard deduction, but not a tax cut.

Nice job Brandon, trouble is the democratic party is the parrty of entitlements. This personal responsibility thing would ruin thier voter base.

Thanks Spur, but I hope you don't think I'm standing up for the Republicans. I could shout a lot of blame at them too! :)

Brandon, that was one of the best posts I have ever read. I agree completely with what you said about personal accountability. I have had to learn that the hard way for the past two years after living like J Paul getty for about five years:(
