another rule for consideration

Im good with that rule. Memebers should be able to sign up here if they care to pay attention and want to fish.

Although, if for some reason say, Joe Blow gets rained out for work and shows up, whoever on the Committee that is there, should all make the call.

I agree with the rule... and if Joe Blow gets rained out .... couldn't he be expected to sign in on the forum as a 'maybe' prior to the tourney?

He could but most wont if they know for a fact they work on certain days. We could just tell them to sign up anyways in case of that situation.

I dont want this to be " sign up by 9 or No you cant fish!" sort of thing. CFF has always had an open invitation and i think between the payout and post count, we should have a pretty solid deal with the members. I would hate to turn away someone that just joined and hadn't really had a chance to fully absorb the site and the tourneys. With us pushing the tournaments as they come up, surely we can get a good sign up list and emphasize having people signed p that "might be" able to make it.

I see Billy's point about being flexible, but in the same breath I also hate to have rules in the gray. Ideally, it's carved in stone one way or the other and then we have a leg to stand on. If we let Joe Blow fish one week, then we have to let Bob Sled fish the next. The more simple we keep these rules, the easier it is for everyone.

Define "walk-up" please. If I am out of town and travel back at breakneck speed to get in town so I can fish this tx, and I don't have my computer, and none of you committee members answer the phone, and I show up to fish...well let me just say that Flip won't have any beer left when you guys get back to the weigh-in. What are we protecting against. I think we have been here before. Now you bunch of bullies, be gentle. emoSorry

I guess what I'm protecting against is having to carry a laptop w/ us to each event to verify if Joe Blow has 150 posts. Pre-registration allows us to screen any sign-ups we don't immediately recognize.

I'm okay with allowing a walk-up if other members of the committee will unanimously agree to their fishing that day. We can always just leave the rule out and then burn that bridge when we reach it.

They could print off thier profile. Must have name in profile (real name) and provide another form of id.
Or we could tell them to take a hike and sign up the right way the next time!...hehe :)

Thanks Rob, that wasn't too bad. I remember reading about the controversy resulting from turning someone away at the ramp when the 2 fishing report rule was in effect. I am with you on grey rules, I would rather it be cut n dried also. We have a two pass rule to take care of this to some extent. It seems to me that mandatory pre-signup gets us back to well...the way it was. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to be difficult, I just like trying to accomodate folks to increase the numbers. I'm for what ever the majority wants.

I had to turn Treeman away that night. 2Jigs stirred up a good one!!!

Im for the no grey area and the rule. makes it simple..i just hate turning anyone away that may have a change of mind or thier plans changed that day. Im good.... Al, you home tonight? Look at your site.

Let it be well-known that you must sign up on the forum before midnite, the day before. Thats as cut and dry as it gets if you ask me. If everyone knows well in advance that you have to be signed up on the CFF, then we shouldn't have any problems. We have to emphasize that its better to sign up and be a no-show than to not sign up and end up being able to fish

That too, is a darn good point. How 'bout this ... instead of the verbage being "No walk-ups, period," let's make it "No walk-ups, PLEASE." We've said it, but if we have to bend for any reason, we still have a bit of an out.
