Any GA residents buy a boat in TN?

Is there anyone here who lives in GA and bought their boat from a dealer in TN? I have some questions about taxes, registration, etc. I bought one back in 2006 but don't know how much has changed and want to gather as much info as possible just in case I decide to pull the trigger on another one.

I did in 2009. Island Cove pretty much took care of everything as far as state sales tax. I only took care of registering boat and trailer in GA. It was less than I thought it would be too.

I was looking at boats in TN this weekend and asked this same question. I was told that I would be responsible for paying my local sales tax in Ga when I got the boat back home. As far as regrestration goes there should be no change from purchasing one in ga. Fill out the card on mail it in.

I think when I bought mine in TN I had the option to pay the dealer the taxes or pay them directly to our local tax office and I chose to pay locally. And there is no difference in where you buy your boat the registration is determined by where it is kept.
